Omar Abdulrahman

Why didn't he just sign it and let us loan him to France or somewhere with less strict work permit rules? We've done it with other players.

He obviously impressed while here as even Yaya mentioned that he was shocked not signing him.
Apparently, he refused the 4 years contract he was offered.

I can see him moving to Europe next summer, hopefully to EPL

I think we lost our chances of getting him... Barcelona, Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund, Schalke, Hamburg and Malaga all interested and keeping a close eye on him

Unless we pay a buttload of money.

"If City come calling again and the UAE are in the top 70, would he join them? "Yes, I would," he said. "I wanted to join Man City when they offered me, but it's out of my hands and we cannot do anything.

"If the club offers me again when UAE is in the top 70 of Fifa rankings, I will sign it. It is every player's dream to play in a major European league and Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs."

Looks like he is still City's for the taking

More information out: Omar Abdulrahman told a trusted source who is very close to Omar that Man City offered him a 4 years deal that he couldn't sign or approve of!!

I think there is a high chance that he would be playing in ManCity next season

And the reason why he couldn't sign or approve ?

I have no clue

I think i would believe his actual quotes and the reason he didn't sign was because he wouldn't get a work permit.

Not a trusted source, I can't see any reason why he would turn down a 4yr contract when he has said how much he wanted to sign and if he can he will.

TBH, this is what I thought too, but it seems that there are things that are kept unsaid.

Anyway, whether he rejected or was rejected the work permit, it was in his advantage. If he get signed now, he will for sure be in the first team squad.

Did nobody read the article I posted? Here's why he wasn't signed last summer

"I enjoyed training with them, and all went well; the club offered me a four-year contract and they believed in me," he said....
"I did not reject the offer; I could not sign it because the guidelines in England did not allow me to."

Also from the article "(Britain requires non-EU footballers to have played in 75 per cent of his nation's matches in the previous two years, and his team must be ranked in Fifa's top 70.)"

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/pro-league/pro-league-al-ains-omar-abdulrahman-in-no-hurry-to-move-on" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.thenational.ae/sport/footbal ... to-move-on</a>

More news from an official in Al-Ain FC, Mohammed Obaid: "Official delegation from Valencia to visit Al-Ain FC to negotiate signing Omar Abdulrahman".<br /><br />-- Fri Mar 01, 2013 2:56 pm --<br /><br />

Yes, just read it and I think things are clear now! It is all about the work permit.

So let's hope that UAE crack the top 70 by July 1

Good news is UAE is moving up in the rankings.

Bad news is they are 99.... quite the way to go in a matter of months??? Wonder how that works... FIFA always confuse the shit out of me with their ranking system.
