Omar Abdulrahman

If he can do with ManCity half of what he is doing in Al-Ain, I will be more than happy. His vision and passes is all what we need. With the quality strikers we have, that would be a killing combination.

I really believe he is a rough diamond that needs a little polishing.

He needs a permit. That's what he needs.

Best thing we can do is buy the lad and put him on loan at Feyenoord or somewhere like that to get a permit. If all fails we could sell him on to another club who can get permit.

He is quality and an absolute delight to watch :)

Whatever we do, we will need to closely monitor his driving habits. Young male Emiratis are notorious. For example, when it gets foggy, they simply drive with their hazard warning lights flashing all the time. They hardly ever use indicators and, if they want to turn left at traffic lights, you will find young male Emiratis in the right hand lane, assuming they even bother stopping.

Al Ain ready to sell Abdulrahman to right club
Man City admit they're still chasing UAE's Abdulrahman

Omar Abdulrahman's standing as UAE football's next big thing has catapulted him to the top of many European clubs' wanted lists and made him a marketers dream in the process.

Having penned a "long-term" sponsorship deal with American sports brand Nike late last year, Abdulrahman has now been unveiled as the 'face' of telecommunication giants Etisalat.

As part of the agreement the 21-year Al Ain playmaker will appear in Etisalat's commercial and public campaigns as well as become an ambassador for social causes.

Abdulrahman, whose displays for club and country have attracted the interest of a host of clubs including Manchester City, Benfica and Arsenal, said he is "honoured" to be chosen by Etisalat.

“It is an honour to be the face of a prestigious brand like Etisalat and help drive their social causes," said Abdulrahman. "A large amount of my success and recognition is attributed to the constant support, superior facilities and training provided in the country."

Etisalat hope the tie-up with UAE football's poster boy, whom they describe as a "perfect amabassador" will enable them to support more local talent.

Saleh Al Abdouli, CEO, Etisalat said: “Etisalat’s agreement with Abdulrahman reaffirms our values focused on excellence, ambition creativity and commitment towards supporting UAE talent.

"He is the perfect brand ambassador as the next generation look up to him for his outstanding talent and achievements that were made in such a short period of time.”

Abdulrahman's stock has been on the rise since his standout performances at last summer's London Olympics and subsequent two-week trial at Manchester City.

While work permit issues scuppered Abdulrahman's hopes of a move to the Etihad Stadium, he has not let the disappointment affect his display on the pitch - inspiring the UAE to Gulf Cup success in January where he also picked up the Player of the Tournament accolade.

A host of European clubs are understood to be sending representatives to the UAE this month to watch Abdulrahman in action this month with Al Ain admitting they are open to selling their prized asset to the "right club".
