one defeat in thirteen

For the love of God what do you cynics want? Look at the record, lost 1 in 10, 4th in league with a game in hand. Can I assume you all expect us to be top after winning every game? As you all know the better teams scrape points whilst not playing well - are we not doing that? Grow up.

Personally i want to "firtle" Clare Tomlinson

People now expect Man City to do well all the time, and no one more then the fans. And with success comes the burden (of sorts) of pressure.
It's when you win everythings all nice and sunshine and daisies, and there's nothing you can't do and no team you can't beat, but when you loose, the fans, and the media especially go into crisis mode.
And it's clear here that the expectations of late has really hit home and caused a bit of panic. So much so that people are taking positives and turning them into negatives, and taking negatives and blowing them way out of proportion.

First off, like if you look at any succesfull team, Man U is probably the best example for this, why, because this season especially, early on in the season, any time they loose or do badly, it's crisis mode from the media, they're suffering, missing Ronaldo, awful, their times up..etc.
But when they win, it's all wonderful, Man U brilliant, Ronaldo who?

Like at the end of the day, all teams struggle, I mean every single top class team out there in every sport have bad days, and a lot of the time they're against the teams they're expected to beat and do so easily. That happpens in sport.
It's no crisis though, but I think our inexperience of success and expectations get the better of a lot of fans.

I mean, looking, for me at Munster (rugby) if we loose a game, you've got some media and some hysterical fans, going it's the end of an era, the old reliables are past it, we're screwed..etc. But when we win..it's all great and wonderful, and we can beat everyone and win it all.
While in reality, by now, the majority of us know that it's not a crisis everytime we loose. And we all know that anytime this team is questioned and put down, anytime we get a bad result, we come out all guns blaring in the next game, that's what top teams do.
Munster have now got it down to a fine art at this stage, there is no one better then playing when they're backs are up against the wall. Munster are the worst team to play against if they've something to prove.

But the fans rarely get sucked in by all the hype because they know that no one is harder on the players then the players themselves.
We can all blame the management and coaches, but at the end of the day it's the players that come out and play, and make mistakes and at the end of the day, if they play badly or rarely loose, then it's nearly always the players fault. Down to mistakes made by players. And the supporters know that they are very capable of picking themselves up and winning the following game..even if they're not playing well. And we trust them entirely.

A technique we haven't seemed to enjoy here at City.
Anytime we win but play badly, we see it as a negative, which it is in some cases, but we know full well that we're very capable of going on and playing much better then that, and we need to trust that the players are up to it.
Like I said, we're not used to these expectations. But we need to learn how to ignore all that, and trust the players and the management, and give them credit for what they've done, and trust that they know what they're doing. Like they've all ready shown us.

A lot of us need to take a breath, calm down, and take things as they come or we'll never make it to the end of the season.

We've a team capable of playing great football, and of beating some of the top teams around. We've seen them do it, we know they can do it again and again, so we just need to take things as they come.

And if we play badly but get the points, we need to see that, well we could have done better, but at the end of the day, it was a very hard game and it's those games that are the tough ones, they're the ones that win us titles, and make us better as a team.
And that if we loose, we loose, it'll make us better for the next week. Which it always does.
And as nice as it is, you learn little from winning 5-0 week in week out, and in reality, you're not going to be brilliant every single week, and we need to except that, give the players a break, and just enjoy the great season we're having.

Because if we keep going the way we're going, it's just going to be a miserable old season with nothing to celebrate, because there's always something to moan about, and always someone to criticize.
It's rare you see perfection in sport and it's about time we came down from the cloud and realize that say, beating Wolves 1-0 in a terrible match in the rain where we're clumping the shite out of eachother, is actually a good result. And like I said, you can't beat every team 5-0 every week.
For every good day in sport, you'll have 10 bad ones. So far we've had a great season. Enjoy it.
If some people can't be happy with only loosing 1 in 13 games, well then they're in for a miserable season, and they'll never be happy, and that's tough for them.

well i can't claim to have watched birmingham this season before but looking at their position they obviously don't always play as well as they did today. they chased and harrassed city from the first whistle. i thought we were lucky to get a point thanks mainly to shay given. but this is what will happen in many games. we just have to get used to it. as yet we don't have the aura if you like of the scum or chelsea where teams feel they are beaten before they start. we are the upstarts with lots of money and teams will raise their game accordingly. last week against fulham was yes dissapointing but they seem to be a team we do not do well against. at birmingham we got a well fought for point and i was actually quite happy about it. we will have many more away games like this so we must get used to it. ffs we are still in 4th place without playing that well. let's see where we are in january eh?

Well i had my say on a thread earlier but I am so convinced by all that has been said that I am off to Ladbrokes tomorrow and will be gambling my life savings on City being top 4.

After all things could hardly be better.
