I think that Angela Merkel, having been brought up 'behind the wall', just didn't want future generations to have the same restrictions in their lives.
I also tthink that brexit has put the UK behind such a wall.

I am a supporter of open borders: I'd like my sons and daughters to have the freedom to live and work anywhere in the world. I cannot expect that while refusing the same opportunity to others.
