Open Letter on Season Tickets and Pricing | Club announce price freeze on "general admission season tickets & PL match tickets" for next season (p163)

Are you saying we have to have a ground full of tourists/ day trippers to be successful?

Why can’t we have a balance or affordable tickets. Then you could have the local fans and the tourists - it’s not exactly a crazy idea.

We were regularly winning trophies under Mancini, pellgrini and pep and the ground for a large part of that wasn’t full of tourists or corporates either.
Part of the tourist support is attracted by continued success.
As is new genuine support for the team. It's called glory-seeking and has been a factor for other clubs for decades. We may even have benefitted ourselves in the late sixties and early seventies.
The problem is that many locals and legacy fans have been priced out, PL/CL tourists only make a couple of visits, and long distance NEW City fans won't pay high prices every week.
The other problem is those implementing the high ticket prices are not interested in the long term future of the club; they are looking for short-term gains.

The decision remove those extra rows to put the larger boards in was also due the fact extra seats being completely exposed to the rain (as well as the extra income from advertising).

However, when you watch back at games from the period the extra rows were there the stadium looks so much better.

Bad decision to remove them but fits in with all the shit decisions taken recently.

As Tivvyblue says - after our success the club should have support that is the envy of the world - instead they have manage to alienate most of us.

With all the 115 shit they have caused they should have been doing everything to keep fans onboard cause if the shit everybody has to deal with - yet they done the exact opposite.
Agree with almost all of that. The only thing I would say is that I disagree about the 115 as I believe the club when they say they're innocent (and hopefully that faith will be borne out in the next few weeks when the verdict drops) but I'm guessing you think the same and that you're perhaps talking about how easily we were hacked by that twat Pinto.

BUT.......just to add to that, many of the very same City fans you talk of being alienated have also taken up the baton and defended the club to the hilt on social media, etc, over the charges, often working tirelessly to debunk the bullshit being spouted by cunts in the media and opposition fans. This point was actually communicated by one of the fan groups to a City director last year after they took down the 1894 Stop Exploiting our Loyalty banner at the Arsenal home game. It was also pointed out that the negative reaction from our fanbase to last year's season ticket/match day ticket price rise announcement could be far more serious if they decide to put prices up again this time round. Whether any of that feedback was taken on board will become apparent when the ST renewal prices for next season are announced.

I'm surprised there's that many on the cup scheme, my block I feel like the only season card holder
Yep - lot's of unfamiliar faces at CL group games around me. But on the flip side, when I look at ticket availability for CL group games after they've gone on sale there never seems to be much more than 20,000 or so available at the start of the sales process so 20,700 is probably about right. I'm sure plenty joined off the back of the CL Final win in Istanbul too in order to give them a better chance of getting one for a future final.

I look at that differently to you...

We sell out fewer European away games then previous years (probably due to increased cost of living recently). Therefore it's easier for big groups to plan and go to games, safe in the knowledge that their whole group will get tickets.

Not really anything to do with the OSC (although I appreciate some people might enjoy the social aspect of going away with their SC)... I have a lot of mates who go in big groups to these away games independently now and never used to be able to before.
I preferred it when we took bigger allocations for these European away games and filled them. There’s too many games now relative to what a lot of people can afford.

That said, I noticed over the years that we seem have quite a few retired and fairly affluent Blues at the European away group stage games.

I remember 6 of us travelling together to Schalke in 2019 independently of any supporters clubs. All managed to get tickets one way or another after putting feelers out all over the place but I think only one - me - actually qualified for a ticket on their own points. I reckon if that game came up again next season, more of that group would now qualify for a ticket in their own right. Plus 2 of those 6 are in the 18-25 bracket so that would give them a better chance of getting one too. Although I'm a FOC, I do think the introduction of ringfencing a small percentage of away tickets for 18-25 year olds is one of the few positive moves that City have introduced in recent years.

hahahaha how have you fallen for that

if it wasnt' 100 % purely because of money then it was 99.9999999999999 % because of money

It was 100% about money but there were loads of no shows for lower profile games (back then) which may have encouraged the Club to think they could replace seats with advertisements, without much of a backlash.

For example, I was in the middle of South Stand L1 when we got best 2 nil by Wolves and I think Traore got a brace. The middle blocks (I was in 116) were half empty.

Good effort mate.

Some posters on here mocked the following Real Madrid brought to the Etihad. We took a similar number there and we didn’t come close to filling the away end at some other Euro aways for the first time in yonks. I explained to a previous poster part of the reason why - and there are other issues like too many games and a disappointing end to the Madrid home game.

If groups of Blues are really intent on going to a European away day together, they will get the tickets, providing the allocations we take aren’t too small.

The timetable for the roof on the new North Stand L2 can no longer be used by the Club for
delaying proper engagement with fans groups on ticket prices. If we don’t know when the stand is opening, Jan is looking a bit optimistic with delays on the roof, just look at pricing n the rest of the ground and estimate the potential prices in North Stand L2 (depending on when it opens).

Some of the live issues like season cards and value golds annd agency tickets could be discussed anyway.

Be interesting - I'm North Stand L2 now so what will happen to our seats and prices. We have not heard a bean from them yet

At an OSC meeting a few months ago, DW said they would engage once the last major milestone was completed (new roof structure). It’s proving a really tricky task and the timing is running into when season card information was released (for last season).

I guess there will be plenty of affordable (for most) tickets in the safe standing blocks but the rest is anyone’s guess. People in North Stand L2 who need to or wish to relocate should get first dibs.

Seasoncard rep sends their apologies. Criminal given the fork in the road right now

Didn't sign the letter of discontent last year either and ridiculously expressed that they were happy with the price of theirs.

Club must find it hilarious. The one person they should really be getting a grilling off seems to be vacant each year when they're required the most. Couldn't have placed their own puppet in a better position.
