Mad and funny and moving (the forging of the rings. The final lighting of the flame was awesome but music from AM and Sir Paul felt like anti climax.
Never thought I would say this but credit to the queen for the Bond moments but then she blew it by picking her nails and Philip reading his programme whilst team GB came out . Disgraceful, no lame excuses please.
The German guy was well dodgy doing his nazi salute but then again we did include damn busters in the music score.
Not an excuse but have to defend them a little bit, yesterday I was with my old man, he's exactly the same age as the Queen and is an intelligent, active pensioner, he drove to where we met yesterday, I left him at 4pm and he drove home home (20miles).
If I'd rung him at the same time as HRH was sat there having to look presentable he would have played fuck with me, it was midnight mate, she must have been knackered, especially after that helicopter ride, give her a break eh.
As for Phil the Greek, well he's well in to borrowed time now, it's enough for him to even the leave the house these days.
The late hour was Danny Boyles call, fair enough tho, so much more spectacular in the dark.
Fair enough, my own parents are same age and know what it's like being around 80 and 90 yr olds, just makes me think ( in fairness to them) they should call it a day.
Agreed, I know it's off on a tangent but for me they should skip Charles too, if William wants it he should take it on now and grasp the chance to put something back on behalf of some members of his family.
Anyway, considering the eyes of the world were on us I reckon we scrubbed up well, very impressive presentation, be interesting to learn what any ex-pats thought of it, would imagine it will have been a tearjerker for some of the more senior ones, good old Blighty.
