Why can't they compete? They have money in the bank, they're profitable & their wage bill is relatively low compared to turnover. The problem is they've chosen not to. They haven't replaced players leaving with players of the same or greater quality. The analogy I used a few weeks ago is that they've bought a new car, then traded it in for a new one which cost the same as they were offered in PX, without putting any money in themselves. Their net spend over the last 5 years is -£45m. As a comparison, Stoke have spent a net £75m over the same period and even Villa have spent £70m. Agree with PB, while they're happy painting us and Chelsea as the reason for their lack of spending it is entirely down to them.

Presumably shares in a company with £150m+ in the bank are worth more than shares in a company that has spent that £150m+ on new players, so I can only presume (with a full takeover bid from Kroenke or Usmanov only a matter of time) why they have taken on the strategy they have. It certainly isn't that they can't compete, and it certainly isn't because they are hamstrung by the move to the new stadium.

criminal - got some mates down in London who are big gooners. Stopped going these last 4 years. Absolutely detest the way the club is being run and shafting their fans. Good lads as well
I had to be in London for my brother in laws wedding for the QPR game. These lads all came out and were celebrating our league win with me. back in May -
