ordinary working fans being priced out

...the premiership is being catered for armchair fans and not the people that regulalry attend matches with a lot of fans are being priced out.

1) TICKET PRICES- the amount of money people are being asked to pay is just ridiculous for a season ticket, away ticket, general ticket.

So not really armchair fans then?

More an argument of 'catering for the rich?'

2) TV- What really annoys me is televisons companies ability to change when fixtures can be played at the drop of a hat- for example the everton away game being moved- no consideration for fans who have taken time off work and could only attend then, no care for fans who planned their whole day around that day being only able to attend then, only thinking about people who can watch it at home and not the actual match goers. without the fans football would be nothing.

read this paragraph ;)

I think it's to be expected if were going to challenge for honours however I was gutted at not being able to afford a ticket for dippers last week only to see the stadium not full on tv.

Teams in the Conference are overcharged, it's not about City.

Cup game gate receipts are shared I think and there has to be agreement on ticket prices, Liverpool generally charge more than us and will have wanted us to charge more than we usually do.
How much would you have wanted knocked off the price to make it a price at which you could afford to go?
Then deduct 36,000 times the reduction you are looking for from the total gate receipts. This is the amount the clubs would be losing by giving this reduction. Football is a business and like every business has to get as much as it can for the product not just sell as many as it can.
Selling 45,000 seats at £20 would probably have filled it, selling 36,000 at £40 meant half a million pounds more on the gate receipts.
It isnt necessarily money we may need but it all goes to FFPR calcs and dippers would get half.

Totally agree with the OP.

Danebansheik, you say football is a business but surely a business has to look after its customers they only seem to want to look after their overpaid players. The ordinary working class man is totally forgotten about in football.
There needs to be some sort of wage cap put in place to keep wages under control because these players are not worth the money being paid to them.

You get what you pay for, and this is coming from someone who has been completely priced out.
I was fortunate enough to get hold of some tickets for the Villareal home leg and I couldn't believe the changes in and around the stadium. It is one first class, world class venue now. Add to that the talent on the pitch and of course that very competition. I can't wait to be able to afford a season ticket again. I started taking my lad just as I started to realise I couldn't do it anymore, (moved to a bigger house and going to the match had to be sacrificed), and it was costing £100 a game by the time we'd done what I had always done on a match day, pint before, after and scran for the kid of course. I didn't want to become someone who got in the car at half 2, parked up and took my seat then was home by half 5 as that wasn't what the whole day was about for me, it was the banter with my pals before hand and beers in town after.
I'm not that bothered i've been priced out, as like I said at the start you get what you pay for. One day i'll be able to afford it again but until then i'm happy knowing we have what we have, even if I'm not able to take it in just yet.
(That said though, it will never beat £4.50 in the Kippax, even if it was watching dross!).

I make myself afford it and I full well know that I'm spending a fortune supporting City. I don't have too many friends outside of football because I'm never free to socialise at the weekend as I'm at City. I think I've turned down 4 things this year already because I've spent too much on this lot.

Relatively speaking we do alright at City. Reading an article about Darlington the other day, they charge £18 for non-league football!

The away fan will become an increasingly dying breed over the next few years, it's started already. Clubs like Newcastle and Villa don't bring as many as they used to. It's not just the ticket cost but transport too. At home at least it's free/cheap to get to the ground.

Not too different to me in that respect, I simply can't afford to go out during the rest of the week to non-football events. If things don't improve I may well have to cut right down on aways next season although the S/T will probably have to be prised out of my cold dead fingers!
