Otamendi

So as I see it now, 4 high quality centre halves. Eldest bring Kompany at 29, not 30 till late next Spring, Otamendi at 27 not 28 till Febuary. Mangala 24. Denaya 20. That's a hell of a centre back pool. Even if we keep Demichellis I see him as the 5th centre mid. A last 20 minutes type of guy. Taking a role similar to Lampard only defensive.

Denayer or his agent has a right to be concerned, but he's still very very young. Chelsea have players of similar ability and development out on loan. Kalas & the Danish lad.

Verane isn't a regular starter at Madrid. Mangala is still seen as raw at 24. Denayer will have to accept that he is a couple of years at least away from top level PL & CL football.

If I were his advisors I'd recommend he stays and learns the City way this season, hopefully getting 20 appearances in all comps. Then look for a decent loan next season, Everton, Southampton level. Then fight for his place as a fully developed 22/23 year old.

Dzeko, Milner, Lampard, Boyata, Jovetic out of the first tam 25. Sterling, Otamendi, Delph, Denayer, Nacho and hopefully De Bruyne in.

These signings, this squad will be a very frightening thought for the Prem.

We have added size, power and speed to our very technically gifted squad.

Fristly we don't want to take tips on youth development from Chelsea.

Secondly, Varane does play regularly and he's THIRD choice behind a 33 y/o Pepe, who will retire soon.

Denayer is at best 4th choice behind 3 guys in their 20's.

I also disagree about Demichelis. The only reason he's coming on at the end of games is because Fernando and Delph are injured.

The only thing I'd say is we need to be looking at a long term replacement for Yaya, which is why Pogba would have been a perfect signing. Once that's in place we're good to go.

I do agree with this - we still need a top quality CM

Denayer could do a fine job at Southampton for 12 months,an education from Koeman would do him no harm and it really would prove his true credentials at this level.

Quality deal, 3 excellent centre backs providing Kompany and Mangala continue their good form. To think Chelsea will possibly pay more than £30m for Stones.

If this guy comes, then City should close its academy. There is no reason to develop our youngsters, case they simply have no future at City

All our top young players are 18-20 or younger. If they keep on learning and progressing they will be ready to be in the first team in 3-5 years when the present lot are ready to step aside and they will still only be very young. That would give us a team of top 23-25 year olds ready to keep us at the top for the next 5-7 years. Kids these days want everything now, they need some patience.

Agree. Especially if we made promises to him that no new defenders are coming in. Can't blame his agent for being furious
But, maybe we dont know the whole history behind scenes.

Maybe, we are bidding on Pedro and Otamendi, as we just cant get KDB and Pogba.

So, plan B is always a way... although, not the desired one.

And its difficult to have anyone happy, specially, when you as a coach has to see the better option for the team, rather than the individual one.
