That's just pure hyped speculation. Kompany could find his form and leave the likes of Mangala way behind, by the time Kompany comes to the end of his career there could be a new 22 year old supserstar defender playing here, Denayer could overtake Mangala...

I rate denayer highly but Mangala was made a scapegoat last season, not saying he was convincing of a 40 mil defender but trust me i saw him for porto for quite a while and otamendi played second string to him and considering he's 5 years younger to otamendi thats saying something. He would be amazing . wait and watch.

Don't see anything in this. Denayer wouldn't have signed the new deal without guarantees over playing time IMO, and MDM only signed a one year contract extension at the back end of last season. Only way this happens is if we flog Mangala and that would be harsh considering his age and the fact he has only been given a year to acclimatise.

The Argentina international is keen to leave the Mestella after a stellar season in La Liga last term and he wants his future sorted out as quickly as possible.

Otamendi is currently enjoying the last few days of his holiday while his representatives try to deal with his departure from the club.

According to Superdeporte, Otamendi’s representative Eugenio Lopez and super-agent Jorge Mendes held meetings in Porto on Saturday with officials from United and City.

The two Manchester clubs have decided to make moves to sign Otamendi and are preparing to present formal offers to Valencia at some point this week.

Why would we need this guy?

Kompany, Mangala, Demichellis and Denayer.

That's the perfect amount of Centre Halfs. 2 experienced, 2 young.

This summer we are focusing on the attack and midfield.

I think next Summer Demichellis will retire and we'll look to replace him, Sagna and Kolarov.

This won't happen, we're probably keeping an eye on him if a Utd deal falls through or we can get him for something like £20-25m. Otherwise would make no sense to spend £30m+ on a centre back.

No need for a centre back this year, Kompany and Mangala should be better and with Demichelis and Denayer being good backup options.

Why not - Our central defence are a weakness . Every cross into the box looks threatening. MDM is too slow ,Vinny is injury and gaff prone, Mangala is yet to prove he is any better than Nastatic or Richards. A solid dependable central defence would greatly enhance our challenges.
