Maybe mate, but the money they will get from qualifying to the group stage could out-weigh any possible loss in a fee.

It's not like his fee will massively drop, Otamendi is a very good defender.

Valencia have to face Monaco which will be a tough test.
 
Him playing in the CL Qualifier does not tie him. He could play for another CL team if he plays against Monaco.

Honestly would welcome him assuming we get a LB first. Having CB depth of Otamendi, Kompany, Mangala and Denayer would be great. We would not suffer from Kompany being out of form or injured since we will have a excellent defender in Otamendi.
 
ive read that valencia want to sign mangala to replace otamendi....any chance we do a swap deal of otamendi or mangala?

No, I think Pellegrini is reluctant to play 5 in midfield let alone 5 in defense.

Every press interview at Valencia now there are questions about Otamendi. I think they're expecting him to be sold. Paco Alcazer just said this. Only what you would expect from a fellow player but you can tell they are only hoping to keep him rather than expect:

Otamendi: “Ya dije lo que pensaba de Nico. Para el Valencia es una pieza clave pero está en sus manos. Todos los compañeros queremos que se quede. Si se queda va a hacerlo igual de bien que el año pasado y va a darlo todo”.

He says he's already spoken about Otamendi. For Valencia he's an important player but the ball is in his court. All of his teammates want him to stay. He says that if Otamendi stays he will be the same player as last year and that he will give everything.

Superdeporte say he missed a test match in training today and not because of an injury, but because he is on the way out. But where? United tell the press they don't want him, but is that a bluff? Is he on his way here? They are deciding his transfer in Singapore, the report says.
