I'm lost with this. I thought Valencia had an obligation to buy negredo?
They do, but it was an obligation to buy in 12 months as it was a loan + obligation to buy in 12 months deal.
They did it to spread the cost of their spend over two seasons so FFP wouldn't hinder them.
They still owe us 30m euros or whatever it is for Negredo, but we could go in now and say we will take Otamendi off you and pay the difference.
Otamendi's buyout is 50m euros which converts to around 35m at the moment.

That's exactly what it's looking like, plus throw in a loan for the GK we were rumored with. They still haven't paid us yet.

As good as Denayer is and can be, do you really see City relying on him for 20+ games this season?
He will get his chance but he still has to earn his place yet.
