Other fans perception of us nowadays.

Just back from Larnden. Lad wore his City top. No aggro and several positive conversations with Chelsea fans who all wished us luck and from experience know that we are going to enjoy the ride. Also lots of Blues too! A couple of fat Arsenal fans sneered and commented but then we sneered and larfed at them in return. Didn't see a single Spurs or Fulham fan but Hammers too were happy to chat. Best of all was a Leyton Orient fan who seemed really chuffed for us and understood our recent history and how we have stuck by the club through thick thin and thinner. A scouse family didn't seem too happy but then they were being offensive in their horrible red shirts.

I'm a Manchester City fan and have been for over 40 years. I'm a City fan because I love City not because I'm worried about what other fans might think.

Just tell them that 10 years ago this coming season we lost a relegation battle again.
I'm not worried what they think mate, far from it, I was just genuinely surprised at the hatred shown towards me, hatred in terms of the looks on peoples faces I mean. I remember going to Aiya Napa in 97' and had just bought the Kappa kits. Everyone loved us then, probably in a feeling sorry kind of way. Just funny what jealousy does to people I guess.

Afternoon Blues.
Just got back from a week in Newquay with the family, very interesting it was too.
Had the usual southern reds not knowing what they're on about, which is pretty much inevitable on any holiday, but the thing which I really noticed was the look of utter disgust on the faces of other fans from different clubs when I walked past them in a City top, or if my lad was in a City top. The first HOUR we were there me and my lad walked to the site shop and he had his City top on. This guy was there, (a Chelsea fan), with his dog and my lad asked what kind of dog it was, 'he doesn't like Man City fans', he said. Now I'm a good judge of how things are spoken, and this was now banter from the guy, he genuinely didn't want to talk to us, the dick. Then there was the shop assistant who said in the most twat-ish way, 'ah the old Man City fan eh, full of cash and still no trophy'!!!! Couldn't believe it but took that one as banter. It was the faces of the other fans which really struck me though, people almost sneered at me whenever I had a City top on, they looked physically pissed off at me, was never like that in the older days. I realise its jealousy etc, but I was really genuinely surprised at peoples views/opinions of us now. Anyone else noticed it?

On a positive note, I did bump into a Blue in Padstow, 'alright Blue', we both exchanged!
This is strange to me because I haven't had any negative crap from other fans when I've travelled around.I thought we'd become a hate figure, but we haven't.Even red dippers are still of the opinion that a common hatred of rags unites us.Most fans of other clubs want us to break the monotony of seeing the same teams at top and say they enjoy watching transfer activities on sky to see who we're getting. What pisses fans off isn't watching a club spend money bringing in top players. It's seeing certain clubs getting an easy game at the start of the season year after year, getting the easiest group/game in the CL year after year and constant debatable decisions in their favour from match officials. When we start getting this favourable treatment, maybe the hatred will come our way.But at the moment, people are saying "Good luck, you deserve it,you've stayed loyal through some bad times" etc, etc.

The more powerful we become as a club..the more hatred.

We might as well get used to it.

Scousers are offensive in the fact that they steal oxygen from real people. I remember someone from chelsea posting <can't remember which site> a good luck message and a line that went, "When you go the games and suddenly see loads of new faces, your not going mad, don't worry, it happened to us." I think out of all the jealous types the funniest are the likes Everscum and Birmingscam....like they were somehow more worthy than us and therefore deserved a sugar daddy. Brum got a cut-price one and everscum wouldn't be bought by Aldi!

Thats what you get for holidaying in rag heartland
There were a few rags to be honest, all donning that sunday league-esque shirt they have too. As for the holidaying there part, never again. This country has some insane weather patterns. Was fucking boiling on Sunday, then like winter on Monday! Abroad for me from now on, where no doubt there'll be more silly comments from jealous fans from up and down the country! Bring it on though, bring it the fuck on.

I live in the south west, and peoples perception of City has definately changed, at first I'd bite back, but now I dont bother worrying about it, just give them a wry smile, that seems to wind them up even more, fuck them, no fucker is spoiling this for me (us), like you said all just boils down to blatant jealousey. If you go down to Cornwall again and need a trim pop down to St.ives about half an hour further down than Newquay, pop in to the male hairdressers, aptly named "The Barber Shop", old fella that owns it, is a huge City fan, but lived down in Cornwall for the last 40 odd years, he still has plenty of stories to tell, you'll notice the shop its decorated in sky blue and white.

I'm not that convinced that everyone liked us before anyway. It was probably more to do with pity than anything else. We also don't get good coverage in the papers. Look at what is going on right now with Rednapp and the chase for Parker from West Ham. It is absolutely exactly the same as us and the Lescott situation. The difference in the press coverage is amazing. We were wankers last season and were tapping up a player and basically playing the big 'I am' with Everton. Now the same situation with Rednapp, and all of a sudden West Ham are being unreasonable, and actually stopping a player from fulfilling bigger ambitions with a bigger club!!!!!
