I have been to some En Avant Guingamp matches in France.
When they were in ligue 1 they had the distinction of being a team with the smallest town population in any of Europe’s top leagues.
It didn’t last of course.

Unfortunately it involved alcohol and It wasn't big and it wasn't clever. Suffice to say in a slightly bizarre reversal of 'Allo 'Allo, it involved a number of Germans hiding an Englishman from a Frenchman (and another brit) who was after my blood.

Overall, my experience was that my Schalke supporting colleagues 'got' what it meant for City fans in a way that the BVB ones didn't, they were less po faced when discussing football and understood that sort of fatalism / black humour that we had for so many years. In my hour of need they helped me with a "that's exactly what we would have done in your shoes" attitude.
