Our front 3 don't link up like Liverpool, or like Utd used to do, we are different & more midfield oriented.
If you look at the typical front 3, it's one striker plus Sterling & Mahrez.
That means the midfield etc has to create most of the chances, as Mahrez plays for himself as first option & Sterling is shagged out & currently has the worst final ball in the known Universe. Plus we don't 'do' crosses as such.
KDB is knackered, Silva has gone, Bernardo has lost his mojo & Foden is 20. The others are plodders. The loss of Silva & Bernardo, is two of the world's best players, from two seasons ago, gone. KDB is only at 50%.
Also all of them have been doing the same things, for several years with people studying videos of them doing it. Now they do it but think about doing it, slower, first.
My short term attempted solution would be to involve more young players, not because that's perfect, but because the current plan requires a miracle to turn it round. If Aguero & Jesus suddenly start hitting hat tricks, we will appear fine. But how do we get KDB & Sterling to full sharpness even then, purely by making them run more miles ? How will they be, in January ? If they manage to do it, how will they be next season ?
We could use the whole attacking/midfield squad inc academy players to try & find another option in order to get KDB & Sterling fit & to give the senior players each more recovery time, even if it's just getting them off the pitch 10 mins sooner.
Also the opposition has not seen these people, they don't know what their game is, so it could turn games for us.
I would pick a date in the calendar, where KDB is effectively 'injured' ie he has a month off. Then look at Sterling doing the same.
Then afterwards the attack will be sharper & we also have a transfer window in there.
We can't just run them to death & expect them to be inspired by it.
