Our attack - what's off?

You have answered your own question.

Pep won't do it differently. It's a complete crock the current narrative he is adapting this term by playing two holders in midfield - we have been playing Rodri and Gundo together for more than 18 months!!

Pep is all about repetition until it becomes second nature - it doesn't really legislate for the opponent - it is always about what his teams do first and foremost.

The matra remains the other team can't hurt you if we have the ball.

Changing it like you say could never be a consistent thing for Pep - he is wedded to his ideas - it has brought us the most success.

Sadly, we have also bought a group of players who are supposedly most-aligned with what he wants.

Asking a long-distance runner to suddenly become a 100m sprinter isn't going to fly.

City, as an organisation, have made the biggest mistake a club can ever do, make the manager bigger than the club.

Ask United or Arsenal fans.

We have spent a lot of money on supposed top players and if you start changing formations, you suddenly have to ask why did we buy wingers if we are going to play 3-5-2?

As for Angelino, he looks great in the delivery phase but he is becoming better with each passing week in some eyes?

He is a horrible defender - as bad as Mendy at defending the first cross - which is why he didn't make ten games for us in the end last year.

His performances in the first-halves against United at our place and away at Anfield, absolutely no words necessary...

The matra remains the other team can't hurt you if we have the ball. - that will always be the case, its what we do with the ball that counts, last night for instance west brom got a lucky break with the deflection and the only other chance early on when ake did enough to make the lad have weak shot. but apart from that they were never going to score. this happens most games.
the obvious conclusion is what we do that matters. the compact low blocks are becoming increasingly hard to break down.
pep needs to work it out and quick

Every game this season except a couple versus Burnley/Marseille there’s at least 3/4 players putting in crap performances. There’s no consistency in this team at the moment

Playing attack against defence is hard when they collapse the space you want to play in and cutoff the passing lanes.

The only way to defeat this is the perfectly timed and executed pass, or the outside shot that gets through and either goes in directly, gets a deflection, or spills a rebound.

As I was taught years ago, as a defender you font have to win the ball or even touch the ball, as long as your position, presence or “body” on him stop him from executing.

For forwards, “execution” is that assist or goal.

For defenders, execution is literally anything that stops the goal.

Defending is much, much easier, especially when it is 11 vs 8!

Who do we truly believe we will sign as our main striker next season ?
I think it will be the guy from benfica Darwin Nunez . Would love haaland but too many obstacles for the deal

I think Messi will get done and that would solve our creativity & goalscoring issues anyway, but I think it will be Haaland, the Paul hirst/Gaughan pieces clearly came from the club and if the club wants to get it done then it will be.

Really hope so mate . It’s time we flexed our financial muscles
