Our Badge

And I wasn't actually arguing that we change the badge, but that there is a complexity about these issues that people don't seem to be engaging with.

Right enough, wild imaginations usually tend to be complex.

And I wasn't actually arguing that we change the badge, but that there is a complexity about these issues that people don't seem to be engaging with.
The only complexity about this issue is that the writer of the original article didn’t do his research properly and has wound his way to a conclusion based on no evidence of any kind whatsoever and has been proven wrong by someone at Manchester Confidential who showed that the badge was designed by two abolitionists 35 years after slavery was banned in the British Empire and was a symbol of trade and enterprise for the city of Manchester and not related to slavery.

If this issue did show that we were issuing a symbol of slavery, I’d maybe be looking deeper into it. Instead I’m hoping to see this at Wembley for the FA Cup final:

(And, yes, that is the hospitality area in the South Stand being empty again before a game when a display is taking place to add to my many pictures of the same thing in the North Stand Expansion thread!)

People are getting cancelled. History is getting cancelled or changed to suit a modern day ideology. Absolutely everything that we see as everyday in our life is under threat now.
This proposal won’t get very far in the short term, but it’s now already out there to be worked on and put into peoples consciousness and will gain traction over time. These zealots are experts in playing the long game.
They need to to be told to shut the f*ck up and stop using incidents that suit their own politic agenda from hundreds of years ago to disrupt modern day life.
The end is nigh, hear ye!

Nobody has ever been “cancelled” in the short and sad history of the nonsense term

Only plans can be cancelled, and I don’t see us planning to cancel our plans to wear ships on our shirts anytime soon ;)

What has the world come to. Woke culture is all about emotions, at the expense of facts, personal freedoms and now apparently local histories. This is considered newsworthy? Future generations will look back on the culture of these times as a massive mistake I’m sure of it
That culture doesn’t exist. Except in a few newspaper articles and their respective online comment threads. Another one takes the media bait
