Our best transfer window ever

Whilst we all have our own views on which is the best transfer window, my all time personal favourite wasn't due to who we got but what happened on the last day of it..

The ono window is my top one..

if you get my drift.

"Says on my TV he's signed for you!"

Was it Mark Bright who went to hide in a forest in the Peak District to avoid having to sign for us on deadline day?

He will also be a hero in my eyes.

I would make a strong case for the January window in January 09. We had been under new ownership for 4 months and our record was very poor.

We lost 10 of our first 18 games that season with only 5 wins and 3 draws. We had 18 points after 18 games and were staring the possibility of relegation in the face at that point.

Whilst the rest of the season was not perfect and we finished 10th on 50 points, it was the additions of Given, Bellamy, De Jong and to a much lesser extent Bridge that helped to shore things up.

Relegation that year would have been unthinkable.

Not seen it mentioned but the summer we signed Curle and Phelan was exciting. I think they were the most expensive full back and most expensive centre half in the world at the time. Felt like we had hit the big time!

If only Howard could of worked with them, we'd of won a title in my opinion!!

Got mixed feelings about Kendall. Was starting to put together a great side, but then he thought Hinchcliffe wasn't good enough for City, but 6 months later was delighted to play him every week for Everton.

We had some real talent and potential at the club at that time, If Kendall had stayed and Lake had stayed healthy, who knows what could have been.

I don't have the history with City that most of you have (since 2009) and even after I became a fan, I can't say that my zealotry to really follow the off-season items didn't peak for a couple seasons. Normally when I see a historical reference that pre-dates my fandom, I try to look things up so that I can get a better grasp. Admittedly, I sometimes don't exactly follow the nuanced references like this one and I can't seem to "get your drift." Can you explain further? If you would prefer, send me a PM as I am interested.

Think he talks about a poster here signed up on a plastic united forum and pretended that he was itk. Fooled the deluded twats into thinking they had signed Silva. You can find it in the classic threads

Weren't they signed a year apart?

I missed our best transfer deadline day ever!
So I'll go with the one where I sat up past midnight just hoping we'd signed Mido : )

They were signed in different years.
