OK Vonk maybe a chill pill is needed by me but after reading MANCINI OUT and RICSTERS WARNING as a joke this has totally backfired

Hahahaha! Ricsters Warning thread is a load of old cobblers aswell!

"Everyone shut up or else the lovely Sheik will take his ball & go home"! Erm, if the multi-billionaire owner of our beloved club bases his investment decisions on the overly impassioned reactions of a few pissed up nob heads on the terraces, & the innane ramblings of a load of internet tosspots with nowt better to do (I include myself in the later description), then I truly fear for his worldwide business empire!

And if the price of investment in the club, is that its become such a dictatorship that the fans are no longer allowed to vent their frustrations in such harmless ways as making childish hand signals, or arguing with each other on the internet, then I'm not sure that its a price worth paying.

I'm not saying I agree with the opinion of those who gave Mancini a hard time last night (entirely the opposite in fact, I totally disagree with them), but fuck me, I'm not so frightened of the fact that they disagree with me that I would argue that they shouldn't be allowed to do it!

Some people need to grow up & accept that not everyone is gonna agree with them, & its not compulsary to like every other city fan!
Lucid common sense! On here? Are you angling for a ban?

Where you invest shows a lot about ones values. The way the fans act like spoilt children with no sense of dignity or gratitude is disgusting and if I was in his positition, I'd consider pulling the plug. If anyone's going to ruin the success of City, sad but true, it will be the fans.

"Jokes" like this thread don't really help the situation.

Point taken and well put but can you not see as a collection of threads it looks bad from the outside

Are you accusing me of talking common sense? How very dare you! Right, you're the next name going on my list!

Then perhaps he should have done his research about the nature of english football fans before making such a hefty investment in the industry, because anyone with half a brain could have told him pretty quickly that every club in the country has more than its fair share of reactionary idiots!

I have no idea whether that affects his "brand values", and quite frankly, why should I care! I'm a football fan, not a marketing tool! Surpressing disquiet on the terraces (whether reasonable or unreasonable) should never be allowed to be a part of the drive to change the culture of the club, & quite frankly, I don't believe for one minute that it is. I just think its a case of someone having heard something & blown it out of all proportion! Like I said, its a load of old cobblers!

I don't care how bad it looks from the outside. I have a brain in my head, & as an adult, I have the ability to judge the merits of each situation for myself. If others don't have that ability, firstly, I fear for how they will cope in the adult world, and secondly, it's not my problem, it's theirs!

"nature of english football" - yes, perhaps his understanding of a football club wasn't good enough. Or maybe it is just us? Quite a different situation, but consider Pompey, where they have been doomed for the entire season due to shit owners. The fans still turn up, they still support their team and don't create a hostile environment themselves. Some emotions don't get brought into the stadium.

Every club does have good/bad fans, but the joke some of our supporters are trying to make of our own club is something I cannot compare to. If we switch managers again, keep booing our own and shouting abuse at the club we support... well put it like this. You look at the sham of a club Pompey is today and you can feel sorry for them. If City is in the same position 12 months now with our 4th manager in 15 months and players playing without confidence or fighting spirit..City you could just point at and laugh with no remorse. That'll be down to those few 'reactionary idiots', as you put it.

I do hope it's all out of proportion in my mind right now as well as on here, but I cannot help to be concerned about what this club is starting to look like.

You fooking cupid stunt, we don't need pricks like you supporting our team.

F**k and support the rags you bell end.

Following the rags very successful (in media terms) campaign against the Glazers with their "Green & Gold until we're sold" slogan, I was thinking we should have our own.

My thought was for us to stop wearing the "Mancini" scarves with the slogan "No more blue and white, Cos Mancini is shite"

I've spoken to one of my contacts who is the Producer on MOTD2 and he thinks it's a great idea and will send Kevin Day with a film crew if we can get it going. So who's up for it?

This sort of comment does my head in really! Its actually quite arrogant of us to assume that we are either the best, or the worst fans in the country, as we do from time to time, depending on the prevailing wind! We're neither; we're just like all football fans the world over - childish/passionate/reactionary/fickle/loyal/sarcastic.....the adjectives continue ad infinitum. But they are adjectives that describe a football fan in general, not a Manchester City fan in particular!

Yes, on the face of it Pompey are up shit street & have lots to moan about, whilst we are in dreamland. But we were up shit street 10 years ago & reacted in much the same way as the Pompey fans are now, by backing our club to the hilt in the face of adversity. We earned all the same plaudits for it at the time too.

But I'd argue that we were then in a position where we were powerless to alter our destiny, as the club didn't have the funding to compete, so all we could do was turn up & try to show our love for the club in whatever way we could.

The situation has now changed in that we have all the financial ability in the world to alter our destiny, but some people are just becoming a little frustrated and frightened that its not going to happen. The money changes expectations, you see, and rightly so! But with power comes responsibility, and one of those responsibilities should be to act with dignity & restraint. Unfortunately though, we're talking about football fans here, and you will notice that restraint isn't one of the adjectives I used above to describe a football fan.

So compare apples with oranges as much as you like, but you aint gonna change the nature of the average footy fan (and, I might ask, why would you want to)? And if Pompey fans thought for one minute that they had any power in their situation, I can guarantee you that they'd be lighting the bonfires & bringing out the pitchforks to get their own voices heard & change their destiny!
