Our season

Amazing season results wise. Winning cups is just amazing. We've occasionally played some bloody nice football. The winning mentality. Unfortunately weve also been the same team over the past 30months that seems to get in its own way. But no way you'll get a complaint from me about the season as a whole. Well not right now. Maybe tomorrow.

Perhaps I am too easily pleased but in a transitional season to win 2 cups and come not a distant 2nd in the league I am well chuffed.

This is not Germany, Spain or Scotland where it’s a 2 horse race. Premier league is a grind even this season.

The last 10 years have been abnormal. Some city fans perhaps need to get their heads round this.

Everyone talking about a transitional season and yeah there is truth to that notion. The problem might be that we are transitioning into a worse team. I don’t have the same excited outlook as some others on here. I think we have bought some absolute shite in recent seasons, it’s either that or they have been poorly coached/managed by Pep. I fear Maresca is going to come in with the same Pep ideas but is a Poundland version of him. I’d be amazed if he can get the same out of these players as Pep.

The cups were a real bonus, particularly the league cup as I thought we would lose that.

I don’t think we have been particularly great this season though, especially away from home.

This side is lacking something and it needs addressing.

Overall a good season though. Better than last year in the league and 2 trophies.

We need a really good summer transfer window though as some of this squad need to go.

We have been spoiled. If Pep goes we will inevitably decline. No other manager will deliver the same volume of trophies as he has. Most teams dream of winning one trophy, let alone two in one season. We have been on a good run in the PL, but too many draws when we should have won have cost us. Overall a good season, but not a brilliant one by our own high standards. It seems like it's time for a new chapter to start, let's hope we hit the ground running next season. I'm personally not convinced by Maresca, but I will get behind him if he does come in.

You've got the think if not for the shitty club world cup and a proper preseason what we could have done this season even when not at our best.
Yep, we pretty much had no pre-season and only won two of our first five games: W2 D1 L2.

Even up to Brentford away in October we didn’t look as match fit as the teams we were playing.

Hugely affected our season.

Everyone who played in that have had their seasons affected. City Chelsea Madrid Atlético have all been lacklustre… even PSG were poor up until about February.

The slow ponderous football is not sustainable. We need new midfielders. Get the ball quicker to Haaland otherwise there's no point in having him.

Maybe I’m just upset with how the last 24 hours have gone but I see us in for a real difficult period. We have an entire midfield to rebuild, and I’m still very much not sold on hardly any of our recent attacking signings, minus Doku.

Just doesn’t feel like we’re about challenge domestically or in Europe the way things are and with Pep leaving, I don’t know.

3 midfielders and get Marmoush and Savinho out and replaced, just seems like a lot to ask + a new manager.

I’m sure I’ll come around Sunday when pep is announcing he’s leaving and we have the trophies out, but right now I’m in the dumps

Let's face it, it has been a season of results. Arsenal haven't played the best football or been the best team but they have done what it takes to get results whether that's badgering goalkeepers at corners or winning edgy games 1-0.

They've known how to win this year and we haven't, that's the only difference. Nothing sums it up more than tonight, we start off decent and have a few chances but they run up the other end and score. We then play out 70 minutes without any reply and sometimes barely even a shot but this was meant to be a title race.

Usually we have standout performers but who has really been our best player over the season? For once that's really difficult to answer which just proves that nobody has really made the difference to get us through games.

I think the rot truly started to set in when KDB stopped playing and eventually then called it a day. If Pep is indeed going then Maresca has a huge job and the club need to back him 100%.

People saying it’s a transitional season, it’s not if Pep is leaving. If it is Maresca next year the we face another transitional year.

Overall we can never grumble at two trophies, but a lot of our football hasn’t been great this season and we need quite an overhaul in the summer, particularly in midfield.

Mixed feelings overall, some good moments, but overall we’ve been quite stale and predictable and that needs to change. A lot of work to do for whoever is our manager.

The CWC was a very unwelcome distraction looking back but the price of success I guess

Congratulations to Arsenal and results focused football. I'm not sure Pep has the bottle for next season.

On the trophy count, a very good season. On the quality of our football, meh.

Played better football than most. Arsenal have channelled their inner Wimbledon, Liverpool did a tribute to the Hodgson era, Utd are still garbage and just appointed a failed Championship manager, Chelsea are a basket case and broke and Spurs are still in danger of relegation with a game to go.

Not saying it’s been a vintage season from us, but compared to others it’s been decent enough fare.

Agree. Next year really could be a total write off especially if the next gaffer is a transitional one.

We do need to look closely at a few things concerning conditioning and set pieces tactics.

We are also losing a lot of serial winners again next year.

The transfer window I think I will tell us a lot about where we and World Cup years always complicate that

With pep potentially leaving some of his sacred cows go too of course, so we might see a more conventional squad set up too

Never dull as a city fan and I’ve enjoyed the ups and downs this year overall

Yes. There were times where we looked like the City of old, but these were too few. There were more games where, by our previous standards, we looked lethargic and ineffectual. Tonight was one of those latter games. But we've been better than teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, united and Spurs.

you are genuinely off your fucking rockers...

there are only 3 things to win domestically.

we won the 2 cups (unbeaten in both)
and came 2nd in the league.

that's 10 out of 10 in both cups and 9.5 in the league.

in which parallel universe is that not an astonishing achievement?

get to fuck!
If you had read my post, you’d have seen that my parallel universe included the Club World Cup and Champions League. Seven is therefore fairly generous for 2 out of 5, but each to their own.

A domestic double is amazing, considering the transition of players we currently have. Most of the team has changed and we have a lot of inexperienced players now.

We’ve become entitled and spoilt over the years really
