Our season

Great for a 'bad' / transitional season. We were turgid for large parts of it, but the signs over the last few months (including cup wins) bode well for the future. Last night was disappointing, but let's face it, we only found ourselves accidentally sucked into a title race in recent weeks because arsenal are flakey.

Slept on it. Still think it's been a brilliant season. You can't argue with two trophies and running the title race to the game before the very last, in a season we all knew would be transitional.

Last season was the one to be annoyed about because that should have been this season, but that's just spilt milk.

I'm not overwhelmed by our recruitment and I think we still have too large a question mark over Rodri in particular*, which might have some unfortunate knock-on to next year, especially after a world Cup, but talking about this season I'm not sure how you can be anything but happy.

*A fit Rodri for a whole season and we win the league too, IMO.

I’m not disappointed at all. Congratulations to the tarquins, you get the most points, you win the league.

2 cups is a great achievement at any time by any club and I’m grateful for it.

See what the next few days brings regarding Pep but he’s been nothing short of magnificent for us.

Whatever happens next season, I just want us to play exciting, attacking football again, which we’ve shown at times this season we can do. The vast majority of this season we’ve played slow, predictable, boring football with the players seemingly in shackles. It’s worked, based on the trophies we’ve collected but Jesus it’s been frustrating to watch. We talk about transition but I’m not sure some of our squad is actually up to it. Big changes needed if the aim is to win the league or challenge in Europe again.

Well done Pep, it’ll never be forgotten.

Can’t help but think that if Maresca comes in he’s being stood up as a gap between Pep and Enrique, who I think would be the next best thing. Who knows

Incredible season.

I don’t know about people here but I had mellow expectations. A trophy and I was very happy. We got two. Let’s not forget only one team, you know who, has done the domestic treble. I can live with not getting it again in what was a transitional year.

Frustrating at times but we pushed all the way. Next season will be very fun.

Happy with the season, domestic cup double is fantastic - However, out style of play is not very exciting any longer. Haaland is often isolated and there's still a lot of huff and puff and bad finishes. Big step forward though, more players score goals and not as bad defensively as we were. I'm excited to see what the future holds for us, think change is needed.

Better than I expected I guess overall. Its disappointing - and the first time for us - to be close to winning, have it in our hands, and not win.

Good stuff: 2 trophies, top scorers, unbeaten since feb(?), close second to the worst prem winners ever, some good young players, always trying to play football and win

and we (still) got Guardiola (for now)

Bad stuff: recruitment/squad players not good enough (savinho, marmoush, etc), game management (whatever you would call the second half dropoffs), lack of scorers throughout the team

Unlucky stuff: title run-in fixtures (a 9 day holiday after the FA cup semi and then the resultant congestion now didnt help), injuries, VAR decisions

Fuck Arsenal, how about that. Tramps can't even celebrate winning the league, they're all still obsessed with mentioning city. Wouldn't piss on one of the cunts if they were on fire, nevermind congratulation them.

For us, great to get 2 cups and that will go down as a very successful season indeed.

However, was it an enjoyable one? Probably not if I'm being totally honest apart from the March/April period. I think we've been frustrating to watch for long periods, and if blues are being honest and look back on it most will agree with me.

By our own standards a very average league campaign, where we may not even achieve 80 points, but somehow finish second!
A total waste of time in the CL
Yet we end with two trophies in the cabinet!

Far too many weak performances over the whole season
Really happy with the cups, great stuff in fact. Never learnt once we started dropping points whilst ahead in the PL.

I expected nothing this season. A year too soon for this squad.

New players, young players, all yet to fully bed in.

This year was one of transition, but still we won two trophies and took the League until the 37th game.

I'd say that the season has been fantastic and I expect them to kick on next year.

An excerpt from the BBC:

The title win came in Mikel Arteta's seventh year in charge, and underlined just what can be achieved if a manager is given time.
Paul Robinson (ex Leeds 'keeper) said, "Mikel Arteta's been there a long period of time. The best gift you can give a good manager is time. Yes you can give them hundreds of millions of pounds but you have to mould that money into a team, into a dressing room, a winning side. You give a good manager time? There's the proof."

Is seven years (or one in 22) and hundreds of millions spent (likely over a billion in total), a good return for one Premier League, Paul?
Or could you say, Arteta couldn't win it in the previous six, because City and Liverpool were far too strong and now both are in transition, it was only a matter of time, up against weakened challengers?

Lets see if they can retain it next year, especially if the Prem will tighten up on the farce at corners.

Never expected to be challenging for the league after the first half of the season and to win both domestic cups has been brilliant, so all said and done a very good season.
Agree and split the season in 2 first half was difficult, second half we were the best team .If first half had been a bit better we'd have a treble.

At the start of the season I felt a cup and a CL place would be a good season. We have surpassed that. I think the massive success we have had these past ten years can spoil you to the reality that football runs in cycles. Dynasties rise and fall. The Pep/Klopp years are now over and I expect the title to change hands a few times over the next 4 or 5 years, with no real dominant figure like Fergie or Pep to emerge for a while. There are five PL clubs with the resources to build a title/CL winning team. Its what makes the PL the most exciting and competative league in the world.

Delighted to have won a cup double but the Premier League run was shocking.

Draws with Bournemouth, Spurs, Chelsea, Forest, West Ham, Everton, Brighton & Sunderland.

Losing to Villa, United, Brighton, Spurs & Newcastle.

Spurs have been an absolute laughing stock & they got 4 points from us. We basically kept them up.
Last season we finished on 71 points, so why would you expect City to get 90+ again, or perform like previous title-winning City sides? We needed to rebuild. We might finish around 78-81 points but you could argue, that the season was one of transition, and that should we start the season now we would be stronger still.

I think we are still trying to rehabilitate Rodri, and Cherki is adapting. Cherki is great with the ball, but he is a risk without it, and with Rodri not at 100% yet, it is a risk to start Cherki. Foden's form has been variable. So our midfield is still a concern.

I don't see how you can be shocked by our Premier League form. 24-25 was a season which saw the departure of KDB, Gundogan and Walker and serious injury to Rodri. To recover, City had/have to rebuild. It is another discussion as to how far through rebuilding we are. IMO we are a better side now than Arsenal but clearly not over the season.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Villa, Man Utd are quite some distance behind City and Arsenal. Next season, I can only see City or Arsenal challenging for the title but in the longer term there are other sides that can challenge, hence the strength of the PL. This season, it was poor. Arsenal are strong defensively, but they are not a great side.

This season has been the season of the setpiece, where attacking teams barricade the keeper to the goal-line and then load the ball into the box with key defenders blocked off so that a free man can attack the ball. At every corner there is a huge amount of physicality and grappling. It is impossible to referee even with VAR. See WHU v Arsenal.

I don't know what the solution is but I think something is going to happen. Arsenal have a strong defence, but they are also hugely reliant on corners for goals. They may have to evolve next season as I believe the referees will act on this.
