Keegan!!! You want to try...Coppell, Clarke, Ball, Frizzle, Benson...now they were miserable days ;)
I give you one Stuart Pearce. 29 goals all fucking season. And that was on the back of the previous season where over the last 10 games it was IIRC P10, W1, D0, L9.

Definitely the lowest point in my supporting life that. Hated the guy as a player and to be left with him after being humiliated by Coppell, I just wanted the ground to open up. Thank god Frank Clark came to the rescue ... oh, wait!
To be fair he stayed on when everyone was running a mile, I actually got to know him a bit through football and is a really nice guy.

We’ve always argued amongst ourselves.
This idea that criticising the team, manager or style of football is a new phenomenon and a sign of newfound entitlement really does perplex me.

City fans have always had high expectations because we are and always have been a big club, and also because our main rivals are big clubs as well. For a large part of our recent history there’s been hate figure available for most of the criticism to focus upon, namely Peter Swales, but there’s always been a debate and discussion about the club because we’re all obsessed with it.

As a fanbase we rightly feel proud of the fact that we had 30,000-plus crowds in the third tier - a true sign of loyalty and stature - but we should also acknowledge that the team stopped doing their warm-up on the pitch that season because the players were getting so much abuse.

Expectations have inevitably shifted with our elevated status and resources, but the nature of the discussion remains the same and fans will continue to expect the best of their club. So when Guardiola tries to tell us that last night was a good performance, when it clearly wasn’t, there’s always going to be a reaction from a section of the support. The fact that we were shit 25 years ago is neither here nor there.
