I now (since September) live in the States and last week wanted to get my step lad a ticket for the Boston Bruins for his birthday (Ice Hockey for anyone who doesn't know) - cheapest available was $195 - around £130. Each.
Tickets for all games went on sale in one go before the season started via Ticketbastard.....
So I looked on the Red Sox website (the season hasn't started yet) and all the reasonably priced tickets for all games have gone for the whole season - cheapest available $180 - £120 for every game.
I did the same check for the basketball team, Boston Celtics, and it was the same prices as the ice hockey!
So is the Premier League expensive??? Compared to Germany yes.... but to US sports?? No chance!
German cheap tickets are a kind of myth really, yes they exist for their standing areas but you´ll never find them for sale because they are snapped up long before the season starts.
What´s available are your usual tickets at rates just somewhat lower than in the UK.
I'm not sure that's true, I was able to get tickets for Bayern against Koln in the last game before the winter break at around £24 for seated tickets or £15 for standing. Season tickets are limited to around 20,000 so there's always lots of availability to buy individual tickets unlike in England where the majority of tickets are season tickets and there is far less availability to buy tickets for individual games.
