outpricing and moving longterm season ticket holders

They really don't care mate, 20+ years means nothing to the new way City do things. A few lads I go with were on level 2 and got moved a few years back, money is king now at City plain and simple.

Agreed but doesn't make it right. The corp boxes opposite me in the west stand might be paid for but are hardly ever full. If someone has paid for the box but cant attend why not give it to their charity of choice?? Ridiculous.

I'm not saying it is right or wrong just that it's a thing that has been known about for years. My mates moved en mass 11 of them as soon as they started to put the prices up and had first dibs on seating so all got sat together.

Moved out of level 2 2 seaons ago because the prices were getting daft. 850-900 for an adult this year I believe?

Judging by the past few games though more corporate seats are exactly what we need, oh wait sorry they've not been glamour ties.

Sitting in 204 the word is that there will not be a price hike untill if and when the North Stand is extended. This would also apply to blocks 201, 202, 227, 228, 230.
My hope is that the demand for the South Stand is not what people are expecting and any North Stand rebuild is put on hold for 10 years, by then I will be dead or to old for the journey up from Devon. Selfish I know but like the smokers/standers/piss heads, its look out for yourself.

i think one of the reasons that the owners decided to buy City was that the fans were pretty loyal and were threr "when we were shit", but they dont really seem to care about the fans and how they are pricing out the long term fans.

it seems that i will become the pub going fan that i once laughed at :-(

Il be gone next season along with my dad after 20 odd years. The club simply couldn't care less about the loyal fan base that existed long before they arrived. Using FFP as an excuse is beyond pathetic considering the sponsorship deals and tv rights etc etc. Imagine us failing FFP as we charge our fans fair prices,it would be ridiculous and show up UEFA for what they really are. Unfortunetly the powers that be decided to side with the devil,it's a shame as the club as a whole had the chance to actually do things a bit differently to the likes of the rags,Liverpool Arsenal etc...oh well, armchair will get more use now!!

"The club" is ultimately Sheikh Mansour, via Khaldoon. They set the strategy and the business model. That obviously involves an increase in corporate revenue, and that can only come from these good seats.

I'm happy with the deal to be honest. i don't think matchday costs would be significantly less if we were in the bottom half of the premier league or division one, given the debt the club was carrying and the way the fanbase was eroding.

There are far too many people want to demand "their rights" without seeing the whole picture.

I just don't think some people are being realistic

If the club can sell more corporate tickets, are people seriously suggesting they should be situated in say the new 3rd tier being built ? Go to any concert, sports event, charity ball - any ticketed in-demand event and corporates pay the most money & get the best seats.

As a ST holder in a seat which may well in a few years time be 'claimed' for corporate (block 125 - lower tier CB stand), I fully sympathise - I'll be gutted if it happens to me. But I won't be upset with the club

Our owners are not a charity. They have said right from the start that they want to create a financially self sufficient club. As fans we should be delighted - it's a far more stable scenario long term than if we are dependant on cash injections to subsidise losses every year. I don't think this has anything to do with FFP.

We were lucky a few years ago to have very cheap seats in the best positions in a great stadium. The flip side was we never looked likely to compete at the highest levels. We still have a great stadium, we have the best training facility in the world, we have some of the best, most coveted players in the world, we are competing in the CL, we will potentially win our 3rd PL title in 4 years (has that been done before ?) and we have cheap seats by any PL club standards in reasonable positions (though not the best) in the stadium. We can't have it all

FFS we are about to play Barcelona in the CL knockout stages for the 2nd consecutive year and people are moaning that they can't keep their seat/have to pay more for their seat, in the most desirable section of the stadium, because the club is expanding it's corporate section to increase revenue !

If you wanted an equivalent seat to CB tier 2 at a London PL club it would cost £1,500 - £2,000. Our STs this season range from £299 - £860. United's are £532 - £950. Arsenal £1,014 - £2,013 ! Liverpool £710 - £869. QPR £499 - £949. Chelsea £595 - £1,250. Spurs £795 - £1,895. Everton (who have spent almost literally nothing on players for years) £544 - £719. Even Hull's cheapest tickets are just over £500. In all instances those figures exclude corporates and the average across the entire PL is £526 for the cheapest and £870 for the most expensive.

I'm not denying football has become seriously expensive and like I say, if I were facing a seat move and/or a big price hike, for a seat I've sat in for years, to make way for a prawn sandwich muncher, I'd be mightily upset but to think there is any other way if you also want success & long term financial stability is simply not living in the real world. Or should we have cheap seats & no corporates but fight relegation every year ?

I think for me that is the thing. Naturally no one wants to see increases in ticket prices but in all honesty it is not as if our prices have been skewed to pay for the world class players and wages we are privileged to watch.

Incredibly for the position we found ourselves in 7 years ago the club has found numerous revenue streams to fund the investment in conjunction to the generosity of the owners.

When you consider the investment in the new stand and that prices start at £299 we are incredibly fortunate as a fan base.

I understand it's pretty annoying to have to move seat, but it's not the end of the world. It's just how things change. When this new third tier opens I'm sure these level 2 ST holders will get first refusals on seats and be able to stay sat with their mates if they want too.

Not Read the full Thread - but my thoughts

i used to sit in 209 & its Maine rd equivalent with 6 or so mates (ST holder since the 70s)
i recieved a letter 5 years ago outlining the plans & prices, thats when i chose to move, i have done value gold ever since, different seat each year, once in level 1 rest in Level 3, i still meet/travel with my mates before & after, have made new friends, usually there is some one i know not far away.
Seen us win the league from 2 different stands, cup runs , champs league etc.
From my experience i would say its not been much of an ordeal
At away games you dont always get to sit with your mates

As some of you have said its the price of success acceptable or unaceptable - your choice

the ones i do feel sorry for are families, not so easy to relocate
