He cost the rags £22 million from Bayern. 4 years wages at say 70k a week.... A least a couple of million on rehab in the states. All for 30 odd games.
Imagine if we get him for nothing on pretty much pay as you play and get a decent number of games out of him. Will wind the rags up like fuck.

Owen is not Roque.
Owen was pretty healthy during his time in Munich - whereas Roque always had his injuries... - we sold him for 5 Million to Blackburn Rovers (acceptable cause he really was talented but had this problems...). I do not know why Manchester City paid 21 million for him a year later. Blackburn Rovers made a real good bargain...

Assuming this comes off, the Birmingham game in the Carling Cup would be the obvious one to give Hargreaves some playing time and see how it goes from there.

Really hope he signs and proves a lot of people wrong, it's really starting to remind me of the Vieira situation. People saw him as an old player who was past it, me included, what we failed to see because we were so pigheaded was the invaluable experience he'd bring and the influence he'd have off the pitch. I'm not saying that's going to be the case with Hargreaves, I feel it'll be on the pitch where he proves people wrong. Manchester United paid £19,000,000 for him and even paid for some of his rehab to get him fit, he's now fit and they released him. We'll be snapping him up on a free and pay as you play, sure he'll have a basic but he's got something to prove. The vast majority of football fans believe he's done, put yourself in his shoes and tell me you wouldn't want to prove them wrong? He'd be great backup, especially in January. Hell, this is England's stand out player from the World Cup in 2006 and you're telling me you don't want him on the bench to come on for 10-20 minutes per game to steady the ship? He's another Barry player and people have been saying how great he's been, why don't you want another one on the bench?
