Re: owen hargreaves

Sky Sports sources understand Manchester City are confident of signing Owen Hargreaves.

The former Manchester United midfielder is set to make the move across the city to join Roberto Mancini's side after undergoing a medical at Bridgewater hospital on Tuesday.

Hargreaves is a free agent after leaving Old Trafford when his contract expired at the end of last season.

He endured four injury-plagued years at United, making just 39 appearances for Sir Alex Ferguson's side after suffering with a chronic tendinitis problem.

Several clubs have been linked with the former Bayern Munich man this summer, including Aston Villa, Tottenham and Leicester City.

West Brom have also offered the 30-year-old a contract, but it appears big-spending City are poised to win the race for his signature.

Hargreaves would provide manager Mancini another option in midfield as City prepare to embark on their maiden UEFA Champions League campaign.

Has anyone seen the thread on ragcafe about this? They are going fucking mental, it's really winding some of them up in a big way.
Haha, fucking muppets.
Another good reason to sign him. Just imagine if he did a man to man on Messi or Shrek and didn´t give them a kick :))

Really hope he signs and proves a lot of people wrong, it's really starting to remind me of the Vieira situation. People saw him as an old player who was past it, me included, what we failed to see because we were so pigheaded was the invaluable experience he'd bring and the influence he'd have off the pitch. I'm not saying that's going to be the case with Hargreaves, I feel it'll be on the pitch where he proves people wrong. Manchester United paid £19,000,000 for him and even paid for some of his rehab to get him fit, he's now fit and they released him. We'll be snapping him up on a free and pay as you play, sure he'll have a basic but he's got something to prove. The vast majority of football fans believe he's done, put yourself in his shoes and tell me you wouldn't want to prove them wrong? He'd be great backup, especially in January. Hell, this is England's stand out player from the World Cup in 2006 and you're telling me you don't want him on the bench to come on for 10-20 minutes per game to steady the ship? He's another Barry player and people have been saying how great he's been, why don't you want another one on the bench?

One of the rare times we agree, I really hope Hargreaves succeeds should he join. Henry Winter (continuously going up in my estimation) has written a superb article this morning on the matter and like he says, if this works out, we've got an absolute gem on our hands. A Free Gamble, whats the risk, I've already envisioned a Derby winner at the Swamp, its hard to resist....

Yeah, some of the comments are pretty laughable.

It's like they think he should retire now United have released him so he doesn't disrespect them.

Fucking idiots the lot of them...course he's going to find a new club.

Or kicked Shrek and put him out for the season. leaving him to spend more time cultivating his Brillo pad. Aah, the possibilities are endless . . .

"I was obviously blessed with athletic ability but my talent is to compete. That's why, in the big games, I've always been among the best players. Better sometimes than the world's best. That's not a coincidence. I have the ability to dig deep and it's probably why I'm still on this path."

he thinks he is superman but obviously is'nt
......for that reason, i'm out
