Red?I think there is a sweet spot. Watches are a bit like cars - you can spend what you want. I personally can't see the sense in walking round with a bracelet that is worth more than my harvested internal organs on the black market. Like cars, the vintage collectables seem to be high maintenance money pits you will only take out in good weather. For me I worked out the sweet spot is around the £200-400 mark for something that looks nice, is accurate, and won't die if you jump into the shower / sea pissed without taking it off.
STEINHART Ocean One vintage RED | Diver Watch 30 ATM

Weighty, accurate (+/- 10-15 secs per month) looks nice, more waterproof than my eardrums, eyes and sphincters, and if it did ever get smashed or stolen not as financially bad as my car or house burning down. Ultimately it does nothing more than the ubiquitous Casio F-91 for less than a tenner from Argos.
To an extent. I have to be honest though, I would never consider picking up my phone to check the time. Far less convenient than just looking at your wrist! If you get a decent waterproof one, then you can wear it anywhere. I go swimming, snorkeling, mucking about on the beach etc with a watch on - I'd not do that with a phone.Never understood watch wearers. Given you have the time on your phone I guess it's just a fashion accessory?
This is why the govt reduced policing on the street I guess, no one needs to know the time lolI wouldn't get either, but fake or real, but why waste money on something no one will see as we all carry clocks around.
Even the scrotes at lime street don't ask the time when you arrive at liverpool anymore

Great shout,i have half a dozen Oris (i need more wrists....)and they are the best quality to value watches in the world. With a budget of about 1k I’d be looking at an Oris Aquis diver. You can get a brand new one for around 1.5k if you could stretch to that or for a grand you would get a very very good pre owned one.
Yep, I have the same watch aka "Kermit", maxi-dial, 5 digit sub, without the laser engraving on the rehaut,I bought a submariner in 2007 for £3,300 - the one with the enlarged lume spots and a green bezel - an "LV". It's now worth £15k.
