Because a year in la liga will make him a better player than a year sat on the bench playing in the league cup.

That was plan b the original was Alves for a year on a free, would have thought that was with a view to bring Maffeo back.

He's more of a utility player though - rb, lb, dm.

Could be room for Maffeo next season if he keeps playing like that.

As others have pointed out, Danilo is more versatile and has already mentioned having been bought to play three positions.

Maffeo proves right now that loaning him out was awesome decision, and the whole idea with Girona is an excellent one. He'll be back better and stronger, will compete against the best instead of being Walker's understudy.
We could think about loaning Brahim and maybe even Foden as well.

Good to see someone agree with me on that point. Extremely beneficial he plays theres. Always thought he should stay there and develop and come back when he's ready to really compete for the number 1 spot. He has the talent. Maybe that will be as soon as next year.

I think we should loan Brahim there but keep Phil for at least one more year and have him train with the first team, play EDS and get a few first team appearances, maybe he won't even need a loan as much I'd like to see that it's unlikely.

Because we will have Walker & Danilo competing for RB and Mendy and new LB competing for LB position.
