Pablo Zabaleta - The Ironman

Hero, legend, warrior - the man is just immense. He's not technically the best player at the club, but fans will always warm to players like Zabaleta because he puts himself, his body on the line for City. Some players wouldn't put their head in where he did tonight in the first place, never mind if they'd were still recovering from being stitched up the week before!

To the person who posted the Monty Python sketch - spot on, me and a few mates keep saying that Zabaleta's just like that!

To add to some good points made, he just turned 26. He can still improve and become even more solid. World class? No. But still..

Yes a couple of knocks in the last two games.Crouch elbow on the nose v Spurs, and Delap studs on the forehead yesterday.
The lad keeps on bouncing back though.Always seems to be available and ready to go again in the next game.Solid.

kicking the board and water bottles aha bless him , its mad how the refs never see the opponents smacking him!

I don't think I expressed myself very well. I just don't take any pleasure at all in seeing the guy getting smashed and cut. Seemingly, neither does he.

He doesn't have to prove his commitment. There's no glory in it. Only a moron would think that him being having a broken nose and scars prove that he's a vital player. He's better than that, a proper all round footballer, one of the very few who can read the play, trap, defend, attack, tackle, head, pass, cross, and finish. He scores goals because he has more guts and football in his head than most of the rest. He shows his commitment in everything he does.

I just think the whole 'good old Zabba, total commitment' line is empty and even a bit insulting in the circumstances. I feel bad for him and his family and hope he takes care of himself, he doesn't deserve or need what's happened to him, he's only got one face, one body, and it has to last him long after fans of this club will have stopped thinking about him. He's got absolutely fuck all to prove to anyone.

It wasn't heroic, it was a mistake, he got carried away. Please understand I'm not having a go at him, but it doesn't seem right to laud him for something he was absolutely furious with himself for. It felt sick watching it, and he could easily have lost the use of an eye.

Sorry to put a downer on an otherwise great night but all I can think about is 'I hope it heals well', because nobody wants a 4 inch scar on their face.

I am sorry mate, but I've watched it a few times now and that was a high boot, no doubt. He was furious that no foul was given and that he has repeatedly had to come off the pitch to be patched up to leave City a man down.

He is a Blue through and through.
