Some interesting comments on here re Zaba.....

Sure he's not bad......but let's not go overboard.....he ain't no Laurent Charvet.

Now there was a classy right back who would put his body on the line time and time again for the team. Allez Laurent Allez.

Pablo is a fucking warrior

I never buy footie shirts..apart from the odd retro one

But if I did he would be the first name on the back before all others

For some reason he reminds me of the ex scouse1 player Jan Molby..I remember he developed a scouse accent and was a fave on Merseyside

These type of players don't have to be the greatest in the world..they just live and breathe the clubs they play for

I have a genuine affection for Pablo..and hope he stays here for the rest of his career

Can't even envisage him playing for another club

He's the best right back in the PL in my opinion, which is some achievement.

I would love to see him win the World Cup as there is no danger of England doing it.

He stands alongside those Manchester legends of the Mercer/Allison era in my book (e.g. Mike Doyle). His parents must have been from Manchester surely?

My favourite image of the 2012/13 season is when the rags scored in the last minute at ours and Zab had his head in his hands against the goalpost.
Looked like he was well upset.

Zabaleta has never really been off the Hispanic radar. He had been to 2 world youth finals, winning the second one with the u20s. He was skipper in a squad that contained Biglia, Garay, Cardozo, Gago, Messi and Kun. He then went to Espanyol having also won the Copa Sudamericana (UEFA cup) with San Lorenzo. Even at Espanyol he got to the UEFA final losing to Sevilla on pens.

Yes he plays in an unfashionable position that is usually overlooked when looking at South American players and he had the usual teething troubles adapting to England. Make no mistake though, he was an excellent prospect, the surprising thing is we nabbed him and manage to get him to flourish.

I always mention how I first watched Zaba in this tournament. For me he was the standout TEAM player although the strikers claimed the headlines. I thought Messi and Kun were typical south American ball hoggers that would fade onto obscurity!! Funny how things turn out, eh...?!

Zabs was the player I kept tabs on after that tourney and stated, on the forum, that I'd hoped we'd get him Pulte future.

Wishes really do come true!

Was speaking with my dad yesterday about the World Cup. As Englishman we both agreed that we would much rather see Zabaleta score the winner in the World Cup final than Rooney.
