I think the dots were joined on this one as far back as 1997 if you watch that Dispatches video posted yesterdaySadly, the Paedophiles out there are well practised at being shifty, yet to others they appear completely trustworthy. The grooming process forms a bond between abuser and victim, and will place the victim in a predicament where something important is utterly dependant on the fact that the abuser is free to carry out the will; in this case a career in football. The victims are hugely embarrassed, and blame themselves for what happens. They would rather lock it away in the depths of their memories rather than admit what has happened to them. That is how this vile git got away with it for so long, and that is exactly how others have got away with it. Most of them come unstuck at some point, but not until they have destroyed individuals lives, and the lives of parents, siblings, partners and friends of the abused.
Maybe in this case there were lots of separate instances that seemed odd at the time, but nobody joined the dots, and he continued to get away with it for so long.
Fair play to Andy Woodward. Incredibly Brave man.
Is that possible for allegations made last week to have gone through the CP's already or have they reviewed previous allegations left on file ?Former football coach Barry Bennell has been charged with eight offences of sexual assault against a boy under the age of 14.
The Crown Prosecution Service said it had reviewed a file of evidence from Cheshire Police relating to allegations of non-recent child sexual abuse.
Five of the charges against the 62-year-old concern the alleged indecent assault on a boy under the age of 14.
Bennell has also been charged with two counts of inciting a boy under 14 years of age to commit an act of gross indecency, and one count of assault with intent to commit buggery.
