Paedophilia within the game/City launch redress scheme

Someone posted a similar sentiment yesterday. We aren't discussing "well-intentioned blokes whose lives were ruined by smutty innuendo and false accusations", we're discussing known - sometimes convicted paedophiles within the game.

No, mate. Your condescending tone is missing the point.
Study the bewilderment in Ken Barnes eyes when he refers to the conversation with the Crewe Director.
People keep referring to joining the dots , but just like Saville it was the smutty innuendo of 1970s reasoning that clouded the issue, and affected judgement.

Nothing condescending intended but with the greatest of respect I don't think nobody is arsed about smutty innuendo - we are discussing paedophiles here and children being systematically raped multiple times over many years and you seem more concerned with wagging tongues.

More revelations in tomorrow's papers.

Does that Telegraph article say that Chelsea paid someone off to keep quiet 3 years ago? (for a historic case)Shocking if true. I think we all have sort of regrettably accepted that the 60's and 70's were a rapey time where people got away with all sorts and others looked the other way, but for clubs to still be paying people off now is pretty shocking if true. I'd seriously hope City weren't up to that sort of thing

There's a fantastic documentary named happy valley, it deals with the instructional abuse of penn state university players at the hands of jerry sardusky... The blow back is still felt to this day and impacts wider than people realise... Be prepared to change opinions on hero's and other revered characters from within the game, it's inevitable!

I always thought that was a stupid assumption to make and unfair on someone who's gone through abuse to then be suspected later in life, I think the subject scares people on many different levels and sometimes rationality, even morality can go out of the window. They come from all walks of life, married, single, popular, unpopular, ugly, good looking, man or woman... none of that seems anything to do with it.

This gene research sounds like a good thing in principle but then again as usual idiots who fail to grasp the aim of these things will get hold of this information and completely misapply it, it could also turn out to be wrong. It had me thinking about something the BBC apparently did(I think "BBC documentary" was added for more clicks though), although I didn't watch it all, a documentary where there's even been the suggestion from some "experts" suggesting all men have this gene in so many words(complete rubbish IMO):

Yeah, I've seen it, I turned that off after about half hour, mate, it's as you alluded to with people jumping on the back of groundbreaking research...

Research in this field is so sparse, our understanding of the mechanics behind it are getting better but we need to keep at it... Regardless if the research comes back inconclusive, it's a new approach which will spawn greater depth!

I don't know how far science has gone with genomics or whether they will find there is a gene but if they did find something would anyone really be opposed to say an injection everyone has at birth to suppress it or maybe during pregnancy to eradicate it? Or is that not really within the realms of possibility? It would be ideal, zero kids abused, no more need for any hysteria, witch hunts, finger pointing etc.

I hope this isn't used to bash City with anyway, it shouldn't be used as a tool to push other agendas such as football rivalries and so on, it probably will be is the thing though and that's why it almost made me feel relieved that Chelsea and other top clubs are being named now... almost until you think about it properly. It's sad how we find a way to use so many things to hurt each other with in so many ways when you think about it.

It is difficult to believe that Paedophilia doesn't involve the highest echelons of our society; from police officers to politicians, journalists to Judges to name but a few and no doubt others. This is why I think that people like Saville were able to get away with it for so many years.
