Paedophilia within the game/City launch redress scheme

If it transpired that City had actually paid money for people's silence regarding this issue, how would fellow blues feel about it? Personally, i don't think i could be a supporter of such a organisation any more. I've a feeling City are not going to come out of this well, I hope i'm wrong.

Why? It's the club you support not individuals. Did you want to stop when Barton started beating Dabo up? The individuals won't even still be at the club so I can't understand your logic I'm afraid.
If it's true, and I've heard similar rumours, then they need to be named and shamed.

We are not the same club anymore so we should not feel like the club as it is now has done anything wrong

I'm not sure what your profession is mate? but I've read a few bits on here where you allude to working with peadophilia, again I'm not sure if that is on the frontline or via case studies etc? In your expert opinion- how big a thing is child abuse in today's society?

I ask because it seems like we never get to hear about the sheer size of the problem. Over the last few years we've had pretty much every walk of life implicated in what appears to be child abuse on an industrial scale.

I've worked as close as you can get, from top to bottom.... I lecture on the subject but my background is as a psychologist. I've written extensively on the subject, currently doing so on child paedophilia as having worked within CSE branches, it's clear the rehabilitation channels are off sync...

As for the scale of the problem, well it certainly appears like an epidemic, however, it's changed with societal and cultural impacts, also the fact more cases are now being reported, doesn't tell the whole story... The crimes are evolving as we speak, keeping in line with technology and ability to access...

I spoke a while back about the gene contention and the work that is being studied on the back of the genome project, it's my belief, that this research will uncover a suppressed gene...

With regards to institutions, I remember completing safeguarding training many moons ago, and me being me, had a slanging match with the tutor who was relaying the merits of CRBs (DBS)... I think I ended the argument with 'those with a clean record are the ones I'd be scrutinising'... Went down like a lead balloon (:

There's plenty of individuals still at the club who were there in the 70/80s.

I understand where you are coming from but unless it's a traditional or cult like influence throughout this club to maintain child abuse or to bypass it then it can only be looked upon on an individual basis. As long as there is nobody at the club today with knowledge of such and willingly accepted it then, not much more you can do.

Depends who and how many were involved. From what I've read I don't think that's the case.

If it was just Bennell himself paying people off then it's just one sick opportunist ****, if the entire board did it then I'd feel very differently.

Yes. I've never been particularly comfortable with "It's ok. He/She has been CRB checked" Many abusers are squeaky clean pillars of the community, without even a parking ticket or speeding fine to their names.

Thanks for the reply mate.
It is very interesting stuff - especially the genome research. When you say a suppressed gene, do you mean a paedo gene that someone is born with or a way of suppressing paedo tendencies?

Exactly...... I've interviewed a good few times for youth services and have said 'thanks, but no thanks', all clean as a whistle but something off. It may seem harsh but a great deal of the time the back stories are too polished!
