Palace (A) Post Match Thread

Not that bothered about the result as it could've been worse and it was going to happen eventually and this always looked like the one, so despite it being a wrong penalty decision and a terrible shot, Ederson saved it and kicked it to safety. That made it feel like a win just because it will have disheartened our "rivals" who maybe saw a chink in our armour.

Also have no issues with the team selection apart from Bernie being wide right, but I am annoyed at a couple of the performances from our side. Leroy and Kun especially.

Tbf to Leroy Fosu-Mensah had a good game and he had very little room and he did have a few runs at them which earned us a few free-kick attempts but he let his frustration get the better of him. He'll learn.

Agüero though is frustrating the fuck out of me because, to me, he looks uninterested and again gave us very little. When he replaced Gabriel, who I'm gutted for and hope he recovers relatively soon, we had no one spearheading the press or running at them or challenging for balls. I'd have put Raheem on because when he did come on we improved again. In fact now Gab is out for a while he'd be my first choice up front... We need another striker. Sanchez would be ideal and I'd now pull out all the stops to get him, or someone else, in ASAP.

As for Palace well good for them getting a 0-0 draw at home but Dann got what he deserved and that **** Puncheon should have the book thrown at him. But he won't, so let's hope he's injured himself quite badly. The ****. I hope Danny Murphy is happy that teams are following his advice. The utter ****.

Good performances from Ederson, Walker, Ota (again), Ferna (again) and Raheem (again) when he came on. Class from Pep during the game and in his presser. Made me feel a bit calmer.

Huge respect and thanks to all Blues who travelled down there for a ridiculously timed fixture in South London. I hope you had/have a good night down there and/or a safe journey home.

Still unbeaten. On we go.

Mind the Gap.

Starting to see a bit of a drop off now, although slightly expected the pressing isn’t as good either and at times has disappeared, the goals have also started to dry up for the main two strikers, possibly this result today was no bad thing it might help refocus the players and get them back on track as the sublime football has dipped alarmingly...

Did you see us against spurs a couple of weeks ago?

So that makes an excellent singing performance retrospectively off key?
No it means you wouldn't praise the guy for his singing performance just after he'd kicked your head in , as some on here are doing i.e. praising Palace for their performance despite their leg breaking tackles and cheating, it's just not right.

Hope Kev and Gabriel get over their injuries soon first of all!

Secondly as a team we once again didn't function too well because so many players were not "first teamers" (e.g. Danilo, Mangala, Gundogan and Bernardo).

Once again Gundogan showed no indication of what he brings to the team other than largely being invisible, Bernardo is simply not a winger, he has no pace and always wants too many touches, twists and turns before ever releasing the ball (usually backwards), so he just slows the pace of any attacks down. However, when Bernardo went into a more central midfield position, he was more productive than Gundogan, so there is hope for him in that position. Mangala did OK (Mr Reliable nowadays), did nothing spectacular or made any major howlers. I thought Danilo was possibly the best of the four, he was assured in defence and helped towards building up in attacks (albeit slowly sometimes).

We simply looked too disjointed without Merlin and KdB together.
Think you watched a different game from me against a diving cheating diving outfit we did ok

Some of us (inc me) are praising Palace as a whole, while rightfully calling out two of their players for cheating/assault. The name's Wum, Len Wum tonight? ;)

Players looked very tired from KO with Danilo, Gundowan, Sane and KDB...plus Sergio when he came on, all looking very ordinary.

That said, the ref was appalling, not allowing Jesus treatment for what looked like a hamstring at best was very poor from him. The KDB assault was awful and a straight red in anyone’s book had the ref seen it.... rather cynical of him to book the player and was done to prevent a retrospective inquest and ban imo.

If there is no FA agenda to stop city walking away with it and the PL season being effectively over by Feb then I would be very surprised given that reffing performance and those of recent games....

14 points clear and all of our opposition looking like championship teams.... I’ll take that

Onwards an£ upwards blues....

In the match thread I'm sure I saw a gif or screenshot of the foul on Jesus that caused him to hyper-extend, does anyone have it so I can answer idiots saying he wasn't even touched before it happened?

Yip outstanding we were, but it’s markedly dropped off including the pressing, for all the talent of gundogan and b.silva the intensity isn’t as good with these two on the play seems slightly slower, not a rant by the way but we have been spoilt and we can’t expect to win every game we play..

Football matches involve two teams, we're not playing against dummies that we just pass around and get into the right position to score. Sometimes tactics from the opposition just work, we saw it against United, when Pep changed things up, we saw it against Chelsea, against West Ham, against Napoli in the second half etc. etc.

We had the best of the chances (other than their penalty) and hit the post. We also had a lot of niggling fouls and holding/pulling back that disrupted our runs, and without protection from the ref, they got to keep doing it all game.

Perfection over 60+ matches is impossible, as much as we have an amazing squad, with motivated, inspired, dedicated players, they're still human and still get tired, still get frustrated, still have minor injuries they carry from match to match.

Can we play better, sure, we've seen it. But that's football, that's life, none of us are always at our best. Because of what they do, every touch, every action, every decision for 90+ minutes is analysed and criticised and debated to a degree that you don't see outside of a handful of sports.

Besides, wasn't this the month we were meant to collapse and fall apart in, 6 wins and 1 draw doesn't seem like a collapse to me...

Remember the Ben Thatcher incident when he only got a yellow card. The FA investigate and he gets an 8 game ban. What the fuck is going on? Have the rules changed?

No, they're still under instructions to fuck us over whenever they can. "A strong Man Utd is good for the Premier League" remember?

We’ll see won’t we. Think you should be more preoccupied with trying to get into the top 4, not worrying about how good city are
Yeah I'm giving my opinion. What's that? you can't take someone not worshipping the City team and Guardiola? Ofcourse we're gonna see when it comes to it if it does.

After 21 games we only need 31 points from the last 51 available to guarantee champions league football next season.

That says it all.

We dont expect anyone to worship City or Pep. In fact its the exact opposite, everybody hates us these days which is a different mindset to us long standing blues. We used to be everyones second favourite team because we were alright and a good laugh. Nothing has changed for us, we are still as we were, its just that the casual man in the street these days hates our guts. We dont expect to be worshipped ffs. We have a Mancunian sense of humour that is far removed from that

The only time you lot crawl around on here is when you think there is something to be gained by winding city fans up. You’re not even the best team in London so I’d pipe down if I were you.....

How nobly impartial of you.
Me, I'm a fan who doesn't like to see his team cheated and kicked off the park.
Come on, we weren't kicked off the park today. Maybe I missed some stuff, faffing around with streams, but imo the 2nd worst foul in the game was Dann on KDB and that was 'professional/tactical', not intending to hurt KDB (or himself!).

Fair enough mate. I think City are a good team but it seems there's some fans who can't take an opinion thats not in line with theirs without coming out with some sort of snide comment i.e. see below.

Yeah I dont care. If you can't be mature then don't talk to me.

We obviously weren't at the races today it's was a below par performance but hey its going to happen every now and again, We will have to grind out draws and wins from tricky games and games which were not going to be at our best.

The performance didn't annoy me today, It was the officials yet again not protecting our players, In recent weeks Kane, Alli, Murphy and now Puncheon all escaping blatant red cards, Then the FA not taking any action afterwards is even more frustrating as it's giving the rest the license to put in horrific challenges.

Fair play to Pep after the game too always conducts himself in a very professional manner.

And one more thing, Some of you need to catch a bloody grip slating players ect Throwing your dummies out because we drew a game! Grow up. You should be happy we're walking the league and playing football which you'll probably never see again so sit back relax and enjoy it!
