If we can't get past whataboutery in this thread, what chance is there in the Middle East?

The 'whataboutery' (great word btw) only surfaces when someone attempts to lump blame wholly on one side or the other. The reasonable posters on this thread, whatever their underlying sympathies, all accept that there is an element of fuckwittery on both sides, though we may argue about the relative degree.

But surely by responding to someone doing that by using another god awful atrocity to demonstrate your point is just as self defeating? At what point does everyone acknowledge there has been bad, bad, evil shit on both sides and start looking at what the real solution is? That is why it remains an ever decreasing circle.

The good folks in Norn Iron aren't averse to indulging in it either.
