Imagine if you will.....

The yes vote in the referendum for Scottish independence wins.

Some Scottish lads kill 3 English lads who were up in Glasgow on a night out.

David Cameron orders air strikes on 34 targets in Glasgow and Edinburgh and bombs the fuck out of two suspects houses.

Crazy right?

You would laugh at this scenario and no doubt suggest airstrikes would be doing Glasgow a favour....and yet....

....it's happening in the world.

And there will no doubt be people on this thread that will defend the actions of Netenyahu.

There will also be no mention of the 34 Palestinian civilians killed by Israeli military action in the past six weeks.

Like you also don't mention the atrocities that come the other way, ie constant rocket launchers hitting civilians from Israel.

Now I am also going to say I don't take any sides in this rather stupid and pointless war, one attack leads to reprisals either way, the dead are used as martyrs to feed on the hatred for revenge and nothing we do or say will take that away from the region.

There was two experts on the Vine show on radio 2 the other day after 1 minute they were arguing the toss about who done what from the past to present and that is why there will be no peace for the innocent folk trying to live a normal life.

Tbh I'm like you in not having sides
Although when one country is propped up by over $3 billion a year by the Sherman's it becomes unfair.

No, you misunderstand, we hear constantly about what Hamas do, as it is in Israel's interest for that information to be in the public domain. But we hear very little of what Israel does to Palestinians on a daily basis.

I'm fully aware of the political situation, but folk like blue underpants seem to think that because there are some who question the balance in the reporting of the conflict, it automatically makes them supporters of Hamas.

Which is ludicrous.

BBC News had a near 10 minute piece yesterday evening on the sad fate of the three Israeli teenagers, including emotive interviews with family members and speeches from Israeli politicians.

In the past decade, more than a THOUSAND Palestinian children have died at the hands of the IDF and settlers. This averages at approx 1 every 3 days. How much time have BBC News (and all other major news outlets) spent reporting these deaths in such a sympathetic and judgmental manner? No coverage either of the thousands more Palestinian children who are incarcerated by Israel.

Israel has in the past two days instigated ground and campaigns against civilian areas of Palestine, and here was me thinking "collective punishment" was illegal in International Law.

I also see today that the Govt has said Britain stands with Israel in these difficult times.

Not in my name.
Kin ell, has bluemoon turned into the propaganda arm of Hamas?

Eh?

Because I'm a left wing, guardian reading, yogurt knitter i tend to side with those that get persecuted and the shitty end of the stick. Sorry..

However I do wonder why you think I really prefer one set of terrorists over another set of terrorists.

You may well be saying this in a well-meaning way, I don't know, but sadly it's cliched bullshit even if well meant. Israel is an occupier, the Palestinians are the occupied. One side is the oppressor, one side is the victim. It really is that simple. There is an injustice to be solved. The solution is to give the Palestinians what they have a right to. Self-determination inside their own state. You talk of peace but that is not the aim. If peace was the aim there'd be peace. The aim of Israel, at least under the current administration, is to take as much territory as it can. The likes of Netanyahu want every little bit of it. The Palestinians are a little bit aggrieved that they've lived under a military occupation for 47 years, their land continually taken from them, checkpoints making journeys long and arduous, homes bulldozed, sectarian favouritism, human rights abuses... The list goes on and on and on. However, this is coming from someone who is a well-known Palestinian sympathiser. So, for all those who believe there are two sides, and no side is better than the other bullshit, go here and listen to Israeli soldiers talk about what occupation is like. There are literally hundreds of Israeli soldiers who'll tell you what life is like for the occupied Palestinians: http://www.breakingthesilence.org.il/testimonies/videos I beg anyone with a conscience or anyone who wants to learn more about how the occupation affects the life of the occupied to go and watch at least some of those videos.
