According to SSN we crashed out against Olympiakos, sounds soooooo dramatic
Yeah I noticed that...
Any other team and they'd say that they lost...
Crashed out to me means we lost every game and failed to score...
But in sky sports news world, crashed out means being undefeated in the group and missing out on the final by going out on penalties...
Somebody at sky writes all these reports for the newsreaders, these aren't just read out off the cuff but people say there is no bias or agenda against us.
I beg to differ.

its there alright.

what i find odd is the people that say it isn't. perhaps they are in on it, plants on the forum to fight their corner maybe?

Marvel at the images, if your eyes can cope with the amazement.

.

On a more serious note.. If our participation in this was a 'marketing event' how would we now rate it- success or failure ?
Have we made or lost ground on the rags and RM in terms of influencing a huge emerging market that will fuel their coffers for years with 'Adidas' type deals.
If we must enter things like this why not try and win it in style if the purpose is to win hearts and minds in a huge emerging US market where soccer is growing...
What did we learn ? I'd suggest we learnt Jovetic could be world class, Joe Hart is not, Nasri is still a pussy, Micah is a balloon .. We have some extremely ordinary squad players . However we will still be capable if the desire is there to shred opponents and score bucketfuls of goals with our fast attacking movement.

UM gets a larger crowd than that every home game. Their average attendance is like 112k

We learned that playing our 5th choice CB and a youth defender centrally won't win many games. And we'll probably do better when 5 of our starters don't advance to the knockout stages of the WC.

We learned that the whole attack to try and boost our presence in America over the last 4 years has been a complete waste of time!

Liverpool out numbered us 10 to 1 in New York, where we have had a City in the Community scheme running for 3 years, have played on numerous occasions, have set-up a football club for the city with a large advertising budget running adverts 24-7. And this is on the back of us winning the league twice in that time period too.

Liverpool have put zero effort in to building there fan base over there, and have won nothing of note for almost 10 years, yet we are as far behind them as ever. Scary to think just how far behind Utd we must be.

City need to rethink if we ever hope to get big in USA. A major USA based sponsor would probably boost popularity 20% over night, but is that likely with our links to Abu Dhabi? Probably not.

you dont build a fan base over 6 years, it takes at least a decade. Like for Chelsea.

Devastated! If only we made it to the final. I would gladly swap the two real trophies we won and another year of champions league football for this.

Of course to us its of no consequence but to the Owners it should be part of a long term plan to develop the brand/name/image etc. As such its not very successful.
