Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

We really don't have any excuses if we don't make the final now.
I know it’s all about opinions but what is the point of that post?
To get some perspective here, PSG at home is not that good as its latest results at home were:
PSG-Monaco 0-2
PSG-Barcelona 1-1
PSG-Nantes 1-2
PSG-Lille 3-0 (CUP game)
PSG-Lille 0-1
PSG-Bayern 0-1
PSG-St Etienne 3-2
PSG-Angers 5-0
PSG-ManCity 1-2

On the other hand away matches were SPECTACULAR:
Marseille-PSG 0-2
Barcelona-PSG 1-4
Dijon-PSG 0-4
Bordeaux-PSG 0-1
Brest-PSG 0-3
Lyon-PSG 2-4
Bayern-PSG 2-3
Strasbourg-PSG 1-4
Metz-PSG 1-2

So PSG
•at HOME: 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses
•AWAY: 9 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses !!!!

So nothing is over at all, not even remotely close to that.
For some reason PSG is amazing in away games and we have to be very very very careful.
it’s quite obvious that they are yet another counter attacking side. When at home, the onus is on them, they can’t sit back and counter with their front 3 and have to dictate the full game. Away they can play their favourite game so that’s why I think there is such a discrepancy. What gives me hope is that we play the same both away and at home, also PSG never really had the majority of the ball and so they played like an away game. So I expect the hoke leg for us will follow the same template, keep Neymar, Mbappe and Di Maria starved of ball and we should be able to hold out

This argument forgets that the reason we get into these positions so often is down to an overload of midfield players and fullbacks playing on the front foot.
Having a dedicated striker would likely mean a change of tactics with no guarantee we'd create as much.
We would have to change tact a bit, but what we seem to be missing is the David Silva killer ball with Sergio running onto it and finishing. Personally i would say when that worked it was a little bit better than what we have now. We have the midfielders in Kev and Foden to play those balls, just not the finisher.

I re watched mahrez ‘s free kick many times and I’m still in awe how it was inch perfect .
The gap between the wall opened up right on cue and an exact size to fit the ball . Wow!

Our side played more or less to its maximum in the 2nd half but we didn't create many opportunities through open play. It was the same against Spurs in the League Cup FInal. The same against Chelsea in the semi-final. This is a trait of City this season. In previous seasons we scored around 100 league goals a season. We're down significantly on that his season. I'd be happier still if this City win didn't owe a little bit to the footballing Gods.
Did you watch the game?

For a start this was the best team we have faced this season and it was away, so you knew it was going to be a tough game.

Watching this game was like most games under Pep, we tried to play our game at the beginning but then as the opponents get more into the game we have to suffer a little as we work out what they are doing.

By the end of the first half we had settled and in the second half we took control.

When Zinchenko came on it gave us more balance and yes we were creating.
Foden had a shot in the first half, a header and a lovely mazy run into the box in the second, but we were doing our usual probing and even if our goals were fortunate we were on the front foot constantly, caused them problems and deserved our win.

I'm looking forward to next week and even though Pep said that they now know about us, we also know about them.

Bring em on. Come On City!

Recorded it to watch it in peace , just second half i think

I am so pleased the lads got it together after their goal, we would have folded in previous years , still must be on point next week, i think we play better away , ponderous starts at home

We will lift the trophy in Istanbul and there will still be the same depressing boring fùckers from this and other similar threads thinking of ways we can still lose, take a day off FFS.
Agreed can’t believe the needy fanny wipes looking for a negative slant.
I get the fearing the worst angle but wish they would keep it to themselves.

Bayern had mitigation with injuries and even though PSG lost at home to them they managed the game quite well. None of the others would match us, PSG are a good side but we should see them off with average run of play and no ridiculous refereeing decisions. Saying all that the next 5 days will be tough to get through.
