Paris Saint-Germain (A) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

It would be a more fun way to win as well wouldn't it? Taking down the 13 times champions, kings of the competitions, Tebas' favourite club, Pep's arch-rivals. The definition of the footballing establishment.

I wouldn't complain about beating Chelsea obviously, but Real Madrid would be sweeter.

You really don‘t wanna play a team, that A has never lost in a finale IIRC, B a team that never lost a final under Zidane and C against Ramos and Benzema in a Final.

They have all the experience and confidence, BUT on the other side, if you want to win the title, then the opponent doesn‘t matter

I think he needs to get a new schtick.

Anyway fucking unbelievable performance last night. This team have got balls of steel and the defenders won't get the credit this deserve. If you look at the teams who have created almost nothing against us this season that's a testament to their work. Especially considering how high the defensive line is with play with.

Dias was my MOTM but I'd be tempted to give it Zin for that 20 minute cameo.
We looked a bit startled, rabbit in the headlights for a 15 minute period of the first half, reminiscent of some of our previous exists in this competition when we seemed to panic as much as anything else. However, we showed a lot of mental strength to impose our own will and our real game on a very good side.
In a strange way I think that Villa result - coming from behind after the shock of an early goal on the back of a dismal cup exit, and then continuing to boss the game with 10 men for 45 minutes - could prove to be a real game changer in terms of our self belief.

Was at work last night and caught snippets of the match through my phone. Just watching back the second half just now and absolutely blown away by the level of performance and control of the match - now understanding why so many are calling it the greatest performance they’ve seen in a long time. Absolutely sensational to a man.

Having watched it though I’m still struggling how I will pick a motm due to so many contenders.

They will be dangerous in the second leg but if we adopt our ‘big balls’ from that second half display we will do just fine.

Would like to bet that PSG will be 0-2 up at Half Time as they cannot play as poorly again. Fortunately, Sterling will come on and snatch a 90 minute goal to take us to extra time, where our superior fitness and depth of squad will prevail. You read it here first.

Yeah spot on wouldn’t it be great fun to watch the odious Perez choking with fury as little nouveaux riche no history City play his faded club off the park. And as an aside the not inconsiderable added benefit of listening to Mcmanaman having to pretend he’s happy that an English club have won it while on the inside he’s crying Liverpool and Madrid tears

Away goal rule still hanging over us like a dark cloud...

Hope it's not in the player's heads and we be ourselves, as Pep said.

More control, more possession, accurate set piece defending.
Clean sheet would be a great preparation for the final.

How is scoring 2 goals away from home and winning the game in the semi final of a 2 leg tie a dark cloud?

Can we just not have one day of calmness around here

AS THE PSG PLAYERS ARE TOO FATIGUED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE PENALTY SHOOT OUT. You read it here first.
That's more like it.

And last

To get some perspective here, PSG at home is not that good as its latest results at home were:
PSG-Monaco 0-2
PSG-Barcelona 1-1
PSG-Nantes 1-2
PSG-Lille 3-0 (CUP game)
PSG-Lille 0-1
PSG-Bayern 0-1
PSG-St Etienne 3-2
PSG-Angers 5-0
PSG-ManCity 1-2

On the other hand away matches were SPECTACULAR:
Marseille-PSG 0-2
Barcelona-PSG 1-4
Dijon-PSG 0-4
Bordeaux-PSG 0-1
Brest-PSG 0-3
Lyon-PSG 2-4
Bayern-PSG 2-3
Strasbourg-PSG 1-4
Metz-PSG 1-2

So PSG
•at HOME: 3 wins, 1 draw and 5 losses
•AWAY: 9 wins, 0 draws, 0 losses !!!!

So nothing is over at all, not even remotely close to that.
For some reason PSG is amazing in away games and we have to be very very very careful.
