I think the OP was making the point that a 2-1 away defeat means we at least have an away goal as opposed to a 0-0. An away goal is important as it could give you breathing space for the home leg.

But read my post again.
There is no world in which a 2-1 loss is better than a 0-0. None at all. In saying that, he’s wrong.

The away goal is useless compared to a non defeat. No defeat away is better than any draw away however many away goals we score.

The comment doesn't surprise me - we've grown up with the nonsense that is "away goals count double", and you can hear the cogs going round in your average commentators head every time an away goal is scored.

Yeah that saying has always annoyed me. It should be “most away goals wins if a draw on aggregate”

What a complete utter farce that game was, we were shite but still could easily have had 3 away goals if not for some terrible decisions
