Paris Saint-Germain (H) - CL SF | Post-Match Thread

Yes, amazing, but it is easier when a team is winning and trophies are being queued up?

I expect some players may reassess their commitment to the club at the end of the campaign, especially if some of them can also boast a Champions League winners' medal.

That could even mean people like Sterling, Jesus and Laporte?

All three of those guys have egos of their own and a perception they can play every week somewhere else.

We see it through the lens of why would anyone want to leave a winning set-up and playing under Pep, but there could yet be a need to take the team forward again, planned or forced.

I can see Laporte being unhappy but I think he will give it at least 1 more season, Pep has been fair with rotation but Stones and Dias look like a partnership that could go down in history. Stones fitness will probably be decisive.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if at least one of those doesn't decide to move on, especially with the type of incomings we are eying. I'd be happy to keep all three but wouldn't panic about any of them leaving. But Pep will, I'm sure, want to keep them and will try to persuade them they will play their part. We saw with James Milner though that not playing in the biggest games makes them look at their own career trajectory, and there are going to be some heartbroken players on 29th May.

I'd hope City can say to all these lads on the fringes that there will be plenty of games to go around, but a Champions League medal has a sort of finality to it, at least for those guys who lack the patience or motivation to push again?

Our strength remains the collective, but I'm sure Pep knows deep down which characters he can take with him.

Agree. I would be gutted to lose Laporte, simply because there is no real drop in quality in rotation.

The emergence of Foden and Mahrez, coupled with Bernie, would suggest Sterling and Jesus would have the most to think about, certainly if people like Haaland and Grealish could come in as replacements?
