Paris - Where to go? Advice please.

If you go to the Louvre go to the metro entrance. It will be a lot less busy than the main entrance. Personally I prefer the Musee D'Orsay.
Sacre Coeur is a must. Everyone does the tower but the roof of the rectangular slab at La Defence has a great view of the city as well. Pompidou centre is a waste of time. If you like opera/classical music Opera Garnier is good.
If you have some French or can use the page translator on google then Groupon Paris has some deals to keep prices down.

Much better option than the Louvre. Anywhere up is good. Eiffel Tower, Tour Montparnasse, La Grande Arche, and for a bid of morbidity but ever so interesting, the cemeteries at Pere Lachaise and Montparnasse. Some interesting buggers in there! Top of the Arc at Etoile, too! Oh, and go and visit Les Invalides - all those French folk traipsing round Napoleon's tomb - reminds me of all those Rags at Sunderland listening to their radios in the dying seconds of City v QPR!!

On a sunny day you can do worse than spend a few hours relaxing at Tuleries near the museums.

Take some food, grab a beer and watch the world go by.

There is a restaurant in Le Tour Montparnasse called La Ciel de Paris. If I'm honest better and cheaper food can be sought in Paris but the restaurant is on the top floor of the only skyscraper in the centre (excluding La Defense) and I seem to recall rotates (slowly) giving the diner a view of basically the whole of the city. I was lucky to be there on a sunny evening and the abiding memory is the sun glistening off all the gold statues and monuments.

oh and I echo comments re Montmatre. Its the only place I would stay when in Paris.

Stick to bottled water. As cheap as frites in the supermarkets.

The Parisian tap water is safe. We drank it no problem. It does have a high mineral content so the flavour might not appeal to you but physically it shouldn't bother you.

I believe you can even find sparkling water drinking fountains throughout Paris, if water "with gas" is your preference.

The dog shit art installations can be found on every street, and the futuristic concept beer pricing is also widely available.

Go to Firenze instead.

I was merely replying to PB's comment re the crepes!
