The man is a comedic genius and anyone who takes a big plate down to his dinner needs treating with a little bit of respect. I am somewhat suprised this thread did not spring legs.If the lad has something new to offer then ............back of the net !

Didn't know that about the writers...might change it for me (but didn't his side kick Henry Normal write any Partridge stuff?). One thing though...he actually looks like 'Alan Partridge' now, whereas earlier on he looked like a young bloke dressing up as an older guy.
I think Coogan is genuinely funny guy (and being interviewed he comes across as very warm and natural).
Saxondale needs a rewatch.

Don’t particularly find him funny, Coogan full stop in fact. My mates love Partridge and I’m always looking at them knowing what they’re on about thinking “yeah, it’s not as funny as you’re making out at all”

I did like his commentary on the rugby league though:

I guess the new series might include

Partridge ending up in a headlock
Guest walk offs
Lots of passive aggressiveness
Telling the audience to fuck off

Definitely laughed a lot at some of the old I'm Alan partridge stuff, but the talk show stuff less so
Incidentally 'Partridge' was the answer to today's nonagram thing in the MEN

Some very funny bits, but overall I was a bit disappointed. Maybe I had too high expectations, but thought it was a bit hit and miss. Still better than most British TV comedies, obviously, but not up to the standard of the earlier series. Hopefully it’ll pick up next week.

In the past, I’ve often found Partridge is funnier upon a second viewing. I thought it was ok.

never seen him before so after them bigging it up all week I decided to give it a go.wished I hadn't bothered it was shit

Enjoyed it. Typical Alan when he changed a description of ‘bosomy downs’ to the more “politically correct” ‘like a smooth, fat teenage boy’. Look forward to the next one.

I thought it was ok but it wasn't a patch on the originals,so i suspect this new series will only appeal to those that grew up with his material.Newcomers will struggle to find any love for the character or the style of humour.

Overall, good to see him back on our screens.
