"figure is understood to be £11m, with £5m up front for the 18-year-old with a further £6m in add-ons."
Celtic have a ten percent sell-on clause on van Dijk, so they are on for about £6m just for that potential sale to Liverpool.
They can add that to the other £10m they should be asked to find for Roberts.
Funnily enough, they were quoting us £15m for Kieran Tierney last year, not even their third best player!

Ok fair enough. We have committed up to £11 million on him and he can probably hardly remember where the Etihad is. The point I am making is he needs to be given a decent chance to show what he can do with us. Otherwise what is the actual point of signing prospects like him if we sell them for small profit after 2 to 3 years. A profit which means bugger all on the balance sheet. He's a very good player. He can make our squad and develop.
He's only 20 so City wouldn't even need to or bother to register him on the A list in the UCL or for the Premier League. He's a bonus player for the time being if we keep him around.I think we may need him to make up the home grown quota.
Sorry let's test his ability here! Get him in n the squad he's English and we need to know how good he is in our league! Why not send him on loan for a year to Girona? Let him test his himself in La Liga for a year. We have an excellent relationship with them and with them winning promotion to first division will be great for City's youth development.
