City v Oldham what a tie that would be it would be good seeing Dickov back at city!

It would have been great but last time he visited as a player, there were tossers booing him and that was before he scored!

Fuck off. His kids are city fans and he openly admits to shedding a tear when we won the league.

he did do it though

Exactly, I was in the end when he scored that goal he was kissing his Leicester badge and showing it to the crowd. I understand that they were paying his wages but many players have scored against former clubs and not celebrated out of respect.

Don't get me wrong I salute him for what he did for us but at the end of the day it was simply his job to do that and that's where it ends. Many thanks to both him and Horlock though for a magnificent day and all that followed!

They will be forever legends along with the latest crop of Blues.

On a separate matter Oldham would be mad to sack him.

No, we wouldn't.

As a Latics fan, what exactly do you think he has done to warrant dismissal?

On the chairman's carpet this morning. Looks like the sack.

Shame really, there's never been any money, his staff were all canned a few weeks back and he's just knocked out the dippers to set up a big money tie against Everton.

Whilst we may not be rolling in it, there's very little excuse for the continual dross we've been served game after game in the league. What I will give Dickov credit for is the contacts he has in the game and he can obviously talk the talk. He's conviced Wabara to stay on longer and longer than originally requested, he managed to get Matty Derbyshire for a few months and he somehow persuaded Jose Baxter to sign a 2 & 1/2 year deal, so we have to be pleased with those things.

However, the team we have, on paper, should be mid-table at a minimum. We've lost 8 out of 9 league games and stats suggest that he has one of the worst win ratios in England, especially over the last 12 months.

We could get to the FA Cup final for all I care, but if we were to get relegated, it would be much, much worse.

Once Corney got rid of the backroom staff, I thought that was a signal for Dickov to resign. He's a fighter though, as you all know, so naturally he's sticking to job at hand, which is commendable in some ways. However, we can't keep playing the way we are in the league. I know the players themselves aren't exempt of criticism but, for me, the buck stops with the manager. We shouldn't just be able to raise our game for the "big boys" and it's that, that is frustrating.

Believe me, I'd love Dickov to succeed. He's an extremely likeable bloke and he obviously cares very much about we he does. Tactical ineptness cannot be perservered with and there's only so far you can go when all you have in the tank is "Give it your all out there, and if you come off the pitch knowing you have, regardless of the result, then that's all you can do" type attitude.

Anyway, roll on fucking Everton.

-- Mon Jan 28, 2013 9:39 am --

Are some of us just being miserable and cantankerous for the sake of it?
This pretty much sums the thread up, Ducado. Like I suggested in another thread, people just want to be unhappy about something so they can have a moan every now and again.

Dickov, although not the most gifted player, scored one of the most - if not the most - important goals in City's history and we owe a lot to him. Like Aguero, he was the man on the spot that had to keep his cool and find the finish (and what a finish it was). Although it was important for different reasons to Aguero's goal, it was still a huge moment in our little club's history.

And like Aguero, Dickov could piss up my bedroom wall and shit on my bed and I'd still hug him for what he did for my club, for our club. The celebration against us when he played for Leicester may have left a bitter taste, but another celebration of his should be on posters all over the city. Cheers, Dicky lad.

Go on Bob, I love you when you're like this.

Oh what a day. That pic still sends shivers down my spine.

I was at the game and i think he did get a bit of stick near the end for flying into a few tackles and trying so hard when we were fighting relegation, but that is the nature of the man.Once he puts the shirt on he will die for whatever shirt he is wearing,he is a pro.The celebration was out of order though and i am sure he regretted it pretty much afterwards.

It has been reported many times he loves the club and the fans and his kids were junior blues or whatever they call them these days. For those who say he was crap, don't forget we had no money and we were shopping in the bargain basement at the time.Aside from the Goat, nobody scored a lot of goals for us.He gave everything for the cause and like Joe Royle said,''He would chase waste paper.''

Aside from the Gillingham goal it was his harrying at Blackburn panicked their defence and led to the own goal to put us 2-1 up and he also scored the third himself. He will always have a special place in a lot of Blue's hearts and memories, mine included.

To be honest "chasing waste paper" is one of my major criticisms of him as a player. My dog can chase waste paper, but he's not good enough to be a professional footballer.

No intelligence, no movement, no technique, no composure, no ability, no good.
