Paul Dickov

The guy is a City legend, end of discussion. Stop arguing and moaning like a bunch of pricks, guess it's expected on here though eh? 'Oh he kissed another clubs badge once' - who gives a shit? We should all know what Manchester City meant to Paul Dickov and if you don't know... Well you should, he gave everything he had for us in some of our darkest times and that's enough for me.

No. He's is not a City legend. He scored a legendary goal, but judge him on his performances over his whole career and he's one of the worst players in the clubs history.

Wow. I take it you don't know much about our history?

Yeh I know we've won 5 FA Cups and 3 top division titles. And I know we've been in the third tier once in our entire 120 year history, making it the worst team in the history of the club. I went to every game during the season we got relegated in to that division, and consider him to be one of the worst players in that side.

I was at the game and i think he did get a bit of stick near the end for flying into a few tackles and trying so hard when we were fighting relegation, but that is the nature of the man.Once he puts the shirt on he will die for whatever shirt he is wearing,he is a pro.The celebration was out of order though and i am sure he regretted it pretty much afterwards.

It has been reported many times he loves the club and the fans and his kids were junior blues or whatever they call them these days. For those who say he was crap, don't forget we had no money and we were shopping in the bargain basement at the time.Aside from the Goat, nobody scored a lot of goals for us.He gave everything for the cause and like Joe Royle said,''He would chase waste paper.''

Aside from the Gillingham goal it was his harrying at Blackburn panicked their defence and led to the own goal to put us 2-1 up and he also scored the third himself. He will always have a special place in a lot of Blue's hearts and memories, mine included.

To be honest "chasing waste paper" is one of my major criticisms of him as a player. My dog can chase waste paper, but he's not good enough to be a professional footballer.

No intelligence, no movement, no technique, no composure, no ability, no good.

What a horrible mean spirited and incorrect post that is!

The man played professional football for ELEVEN years. In that time he played for 12 clubs and us twice. The term professional is the main point. That means TWELVE clubs considered him good enough to pay him a wage to do so.Not bad for a man as bad as you say eh?I am suprised based on your undoubted expert assesment he got a place in a pub sunday league's side!

Whether you like it or not this awful footballer played a MAJOR part in us getting two promotions back to back into the premier league.Ask anyone who was at Wembley against Gillingham and at Blackburn away in the last game of the next season just what he did for this club!

I was at Wembley, great day, incredible moment.

If the point was about whether Dickov scored a goal that meant a lot to the fans, of course he did, that goal meant the world to me too.

But that isn't the point I'm making. The point I'm making is, based on the performance of the club over the last 120 years, Paul Dickov is one of the worst players ever to play for the club. I stand by that, and always will.

shame if he gets sack, As on ssn oldham total cost nothing where as liverpool overall cost 114 million.A minor miracle by all standards.
Oldham have won one point from their last 21 available.

Hopefully yesterday's win can change the side's fortunes but if they get relegated and have a good cup run, that's not really enough to keep your job.

Mate you can take this any way you want but i wish fans with your attitude and spirit would go and never return.I would rather sit or stand next to an empty space than next to someone like you and i don't care if you were at York away or delivered Colin Bell's newspaper,i wish our club had less of you.

Well I admire your honesty, and of course you are entitled to your point of view. For the record, I don't wish you didn't go, the more City fans the better.

I do however, think fans like you who value "dying for the shirt" "chasing waste paper" and "tracking back" as more important than abilty, intelligence, and technique, held the club back for years and contributed to us being so bad for so long.

Thankfully the attitude of the average fan is changing, and people are starting to appreciate the talents of a David Silva or Sergio Aguero, more than the work rate and bluster of a Paul Dickov or James Milner. Long may it continue, we'll be a more successful side for it.
