It is a tragedy to see anyone like this. Some former sportsmen, especially those who carry huge popularity, really struggle to fill the void when they are done. The adulation they received is addictive and they find it difficult to replace.
 
Tragic waste of a life. Hopefully someone will step in and protect the poor bastard. He needs to be remembered for his genius
 
Its sad like all people with an illness, be it addiction or mental. They can get all the help in the world but ultimately it is down to them.
 
I was talking to a mate about old game shows and we concluded that Barrymore must of been On it when he did strike it lucky, he was clearly off his tits! and like every pub I go in now, It’s rife. Grown men sharing a toilet cubicle to Sniff it off of the house key. Women at it to. It’s Every where. You can get a dealer quicker than an ambulance.

Why? They were just filming an ex footballer talking to someone who thinks a wife beater is a legend. Unfortunately for them Gascoigne acts like a cünt. Unless the whole thing is a set up?
 
I’ve seen a few of random Mancunian lads in their 50s who live their lives like this.

One is an old mate of any Uncle’s, they used to be proper Hacienda and Blackburn warehouse heads back in the day and this fella is still fucking bang into it all now. He looks about 65 and he’s about 50 and is always pissed up and on the gear, looking a state.
 
Alcoholism is a tragedy, my mate died in front of his daughter at age 40 through drink, he was given umpteen warnings and his daughter begged him to stop, he just couldn't do it....
It's easy looking down on an alcoholic and judging but unless you have been through it, I don't think you can comprehend what effect it has and how it completely takes over a life...

Thankfully I can't comprehend fully but watching my mate pile in was shocking to say the least ..

Not condoning anything Gazza has done but I do sympathise with him and the mess he's got himself Into....!

I live in a completely different world to you then, I dont know anyone who does it, and I've honestly never even seen it in my life. Dont think I'm missing out to be fair!!
 
The thing is, how do you help him? He’s had rehab stint after rehab stint, paid for by tax payers, his mates, rich people who know who he is and probably by himself too, so he’s had ample opportunity to turn it around and can’t, or won’t.

You can’t lock him up and once he has a few days/weeks off it he’ll chuck in a tv appearance to earn a few quid and then he seems to always find a way back to it. Sadly, it’s going to kill him, either slowly or by a heavier than normal session. I thought he was an alchy but if he’s on the marching powder too then he’s properly fucked.

Shame he left the game, but even that didn’t keep him straight. He looks pathetic but it’ll never, ever change.
