Paul McCartney

I know it isn't strictly on topic but as a huge Beatles fan, I'm surprised George hasn't been mentioned. I know he didn't write the quantity of songs Lennon/McCartney did but for me, Here comes the Sun, Something, My sweet Lord and While my guitar gently weeps are up there with the best of John and Paul. I may be biased though as he's my favourite Beatle :)

One of my favourite solo beatles tracks.

Harrison was a great guitarist and songwriter who was largely overshadowed by the awesome partnership of Lennon and McCartney.

I was no fan of the Frog Chorus but I'm a little surprised that people would actually like him to die. Seems a tad harsh to say the least.

People always take the piss out of the frog chorus, (and they use it to berate McCartney) but in reality it was made for kids, the Beatles always did write songs for kids, Yellow Submarine, Maxwells Silver Hammer, Octopus Garden etc, it was just something they liked doing, I dont see a problem with it and it was very original for a band to release a rock album like Abbey Road and put a kids song on there, I couldnt see the Stones or Dylan doing that, so I actually think it gave the group more personality.

as regards his looks (testical face) :)

err how will you look when your 70 ? keeps himself slim & fit, thats the main thing.

I know, I was only joking. I was just trying to point out that wishing death on him was not really on but without being confrontational.

a mate just gave me a disc with 43 post Beatle albums on it...when I got it home and looking at all the albums I just thought jesus its amazing.

This guy since writing half of the 190 or so Beatle songs (that were mega hits the world over) has written 43 fucking albums, ok a couple are live but even so what does it take to write 41 albums post Beatles, most of which have contained top 10 or No 1 hits, whether you like his stuff or not you have to admit thats pretty fucking impressive, and still hammering it out at 70 ..

He's a filthy rich arrogant c~nt , always has been an arrogant c~nt , but you do have to admire the impression he's made on the music world , and is still making .......

If you want to say **** then say ****. Hiding one letter does not make it less offensive.

Oh I dont know......he's filthy rich yeah, but since when was that a crime ?

I was just watching the Scorcese doco on George and Paul comes over as quite normal, not arrogant at all really, my favourite little bit is when he says
' we were 4 corners of a square, people would say it was all about me & john , but it wasnt, it was the 4 of us, and without each corner it would have collapsed'

not really what you'd call arrogant, well not to me anyway, he also says when he wrote the song And I Love Her, 'George made up the little guitar riff that introduced it , and really, that made the song'
quite generous of him to say that after writing the melody and words..

Macca's one of the greatest song writers of all time and is a living legdend. He's wrote some of my favourite ever songs but I wasen't to impressed with is solo stuff. But when it comes to real proper genius, Lennon is the man. Forget Dylan, forget Springsteen, forget Pete Townsend and forget Chuck Berry... Lennon is the greatest and always will be. Beatles material was class, solo albums were class. He is in a different league to Macca.

Kind of have to agree with this, although I am a huge Macca fan. Some of his solo albums (McCartney 1, Band on the run, Flaming Pie, Cahos and Creation) are stunning pieces of work - there are class moments on his other solo and Wings stuff. But put Macca's post Beatles work up against the likes of Imagine, Mind Games, Walls and Bridges and Some Time in New York City and Lennon just about edges it for me.

We were very lucky to have them both in one band.

Ram's probably one of my favourite albums. Mccartney 1 is pretty decent too but Mccartney 2 is fucking dreadful. Heard a bit of chaos and creation in the backyard, not too interested in most of it but the first song (fine line) is brilliant
