Of course they never sang it... that would require actually going to a game!

I must be hard of thinking at this time of the morning, but according to the Sun (which is apparently a newspaper), the Pogba deal is being held up over who pays the agent's fee. Who are they expecting to pay it? Juve? Pogba? City? Don't get it.

Interesting. When I went to this Q&A with David Gill, he said that the rags refuse to pay agents but will pay the player the money and let them pay the agent. That meant that the player would have to pay tax on the money and it would be paid out of the player's net income. So they'd have to pay out £2m for an agent to get £1m.

I may not have quite understood what he said properly but that seemed daft as they'd still end up paying the money but paying out more than they would if they'd paid the agent direct.

I think it's simpler than that - United want their bid to be €120m including Raiola's cut, and Juve are insisting on getting €120m themselves, with United having to sort out Raiola's cut seperately.

The agent works for the player, and in this case Man Utd seeing as they seem to be buying all his players. If they have gone as far as agreeing to pay £100m for the player it seems unlikely that the deal will be allowed to fall over a few million - which they must have expected to pay anyway. More problematic might be whether Pogba really wants to go there anyway, especially if he thinks Real Madrid is an option now or next season.

I don’t think they are €20m apart. I think it comes down to the amount and principle of who pays the agent. As above if Pogba gets paid the fee and has to settle with the agent he would have to pay tax on the fee element (although claim it back as an expense mitigating some of the expense). If Rags pay direct it could be diverted offshore with no tax! I think there are two things going on – one is that most of the deal is agreed but Raiola is also engineering a delay to flush out any other interest which at over €100m is not going to happen. The Rags are also probably making a point to Pogba just ensuring he knows how much his agent is skimming of the top. By the looks of his twitter posts he doesn’t give a toss!

So my guess is this will get done in time with the Rags picking up the bill!
