Paul Pogba

The hope IMO is that the personalities won't gel but the likihood IMO is that they will and they'll be very dangerous. Pogba IMO will play as an attacking player and be a phenomenon because he'll have a gazillion shots per game - some will go miles wide, some will go in and some fill be fed off by others in the box. Mourinho will toughen up the defence and midfield so there'll concede a lot less too. I hope I'm wrong but I think Pogba there will bring them to another level.

I'm still holding out hope that Real are in stealth mode and he'll go there (where he'd be less of a hit I think so probably not the best move for him). Would love it if utd had to scamper with 2 weeks left to fill the void. :-)

I'm convinced Moanio will also take them to another level - Mid Table

United and Mourinho - both of them - are not trying to sign a player in the case of Pogba, so much as trying to make a statement that they are still a club, and a manager, for whom the best players in the world want to play. This was the point of Bailly's claims that he snubbed City specifically because he couldn't resist the lure of United and their charismatic eye gouger. United are particularly concerned not to be seen as another Liverpool. Klopp has admitted that he cannot attract players of the calibre required to build the team he wants, and this is almost certainly because of their prolonged absence from the CL. United's experience with top players has not been encouraging. They bought Ronaldo as a talented youngster but had no chance of keeping hold of him when Real made their move. There their connection with big name players ended until disaster struck under Moyes. LVG brought in Di Maria, Falcao and Schweinstieger but this all had exactly the opposite effect to the one intended: Di Maria showed that a really top player would only go to OT when his club didn't want him and there was literally nowhere else to go (he wanted Paris, as we all know) and Schweinsteiger and Falcao showed that top players would only go to OT if they had injury problems which meant they could no longer play as top players. With Falcao Mourinho made the same mistake as LVG! So a 35 year old on a one year deal and a Dortmund reject aren't going to restore United's (or Mourinho's) reputation on their own. The trouble is that they're paying twice as much for Pogba as the price which led City and Real to lose interest PLUS enormous fees to his agent and huge wages to the player - and he still hasn't signed. It suggests very strongly the lengths United have to go to to attract a player who is still nowhere near the best in the world!

We all know the real delay is David Gill is in the halls of UEFA arguing that the only reason Juventus made the CL last season was on the back the great Paul Pogba. Therefore the rags should take their place once he is signed.

Manchester United target Paul Pogba will return to Juventus training on Monday, says boss Massimiliano Allegri.

The France international has been on holiday in the USA following Euro 2016.

Pogba, 23, has been widely linked with a world record £100m move to Old Trafford this summer, with Jose Mourinho suggesting a deal was close.

"It makes no sense at the moment talking about potential replacements for Pogba because, right now, Pogba is a Juventus player," said Allegri.

United begin their season in the Community Shield against Leicester City on Sunday, and Mourinho says the club are trying "everything to close the market as quickly as possible" before next weekend's Premier League kick-off.

Juventus' Serie A season begins a week later on 20 August, with the Italian champions due to face West Ham in a friendly at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday

Wonder if this is now all smoke and mirrors and Ushited know they aren't getting him and are the mystery bidders for James?

Eh they are saying it is done, well my old man is hahahahaha. So basically they are no further with it than at any time really as it seems Juve are calling all the shots here.
Something tells me they are enjoying putting utd under their boot also, so will prolong this even if they do end up selling. They will not put effort into it but if the ebb and flow takes it to an even more drawn out conclusion i doubt Juve will be arsed as they can just say "fuck it we are out, toodles". Utd do seem to be totally at their mercy right now, will they show quarter?
